Female Troops Medevaced from Afghanistan at Higher Rate Than Male Comrades
Time ^ | July 9, 2013 | Mark Thompson

As the U.S. military prepares to send women into the toughest combat billets for the first time, Pentagon medical officers have just released data showing that while “battle injuries” were the leading reason male troops were flown outside Afghanistan for medical care, “mental disorders” topped the list for female troops.

That shouldn’t come as a complete surprise. After all, women remain technically barred from the infantry and other units where close-in combat is the norm. But the data also show that despite the ban, women were medically evacuated from Afghanistan at a rate 22% higher than their male comrades.

They all seem to be similarly afflicted.

The comments below the article are interesting...nobody in the MSM seems to want to address the politically touchy issue of in-theater pregnancies.

Is anyone truly surprised?

The typical female brain wired differently than the typical male brain. It is bad enough the male brain has trouble coping with what it goes through. But it can deal with it a lot better than the female brain can. Not gloating, just pointing out what we all know is true.

I briefly looked at the article. Since it’s from The Nation, I’m sure they’re saying “That’s Sexist!!!!”

Let’s not forget the cultural factor here. A foreign female soldier is very conspicuous in muslim country. It is particularly offensive.

In spring ‘04 Iraq I remember seeing a young MP riding in the cupola of a cut-V on MSR Tampa with only her brown t-shirt; hair billowing in wind as we passed. I couldn’t believe her fellow troops would allow her to do that. It appeared she was flaunting, girl power? .30 cal or not I told myself she’ll be dead quick like that. Sure enough 3 weeks later I read a boo-hoo story here on FR about a female MP being sniped on on patrol south of Baghdad. The sister in the story looked just like the soldier I saw albeit with bleached hair.

I just can’t understand why some units deploy from the States with complete idiots for NCOs.

American women seem to have no qualms about murdering infants in the womb, so maybe things will be different this time. Or maybe the opposing force will be so busy gang-banging captured female soldiers that it will reduce their combat effectiveness. /s

I was in the TSA line at Greenville, SC just as few days ago, and noticed a woman in shorts, with I’m sure was her husband and a dog with a Veteran’s aid vest on. Her left leg had been replaced with a prosthesis from the upper thigh. As I marveled at the progress that’s been made with artificial limbs over the years, I also took in that her right leg was beautiful.

But she appeared quite stoic about it, and it seemed that she and her husband, were quite well adjusted.

I wanted to thank her for her service, but she was too far ahead in the line, and I didn’t see her again afterward.

But it made me proud just to have seen her. So if she should be out there, here’s a big WELCOME HOME!

We had a female Soldier in my platoon in Iraq. She was sent home early for mental issues. The doctor had sent a letter to the commander saying to NOT let her have a weapon. We relieved her of her bolt and rounds but she could just as easily picked up another weapon.

We were SOOOOO happy the day she left!
