When you rent section 8, YOU are not “conducting an exchange of value”, you’re garnering profit off the sweat of your fellow Americans brow because it’s SUBSIDIZED and your facilitating erroneous market demand.
AFAIC, Van is right, if you’re going to participate in the destruction of America via the largess industry, you deserve to have your sh** destroyed...
Most don’t remember the neighborhood busting of the 60’s and 70’s. It was brutal. Sorry you lost your homes. Better to concentrate the maggots than to drop them randomly in healthy populations.
1. The way I was raised, you treat other’s property better than your own.
2. I despise some of the comments on the youtube link, as many assume it’s blacks doing all the damage. Go to the Hilltop in Columbus sometime - I made a wrong turn once on Broad St. & it was scarier than any ghetto I’d passed through.
Side note: I had a white pal as a kid whose parents were “perpetual renters”. Sleepovers at her house meant a gaggle of us young kids went over to clean & do laundry, while the cracker adults were passed out, or were just out of the house “away” for days, while we “babysat” the younger siblings (including a non-potty trained 7 yr old)
Trash is trash.
Today, that friend has the cleanest house of anyone I know, as do all her younger sibs. The parents’ slovenly behaviour made an impression, to positive effect. All the kids put themselves through college and wrote off their childhoods as “life lessons learned the hard way”.
My brother in law rented out his condo to a section 8 type. She promptly moved her baby daddy in, taking up an additional parking spot. She refused to park straight so she took up two spots to begin with. When the other owners complipained to her about this she responded by screaming at them. On top of that she would demand brand new appliances, that things she broke be fixed yesterday, etc.
When I moved my brother in law back in after he got rid of her, (or more precisely she got fed up and moved on to an eaiser mark) he spent the entire day apologizing to his neighbors.
“Only people who have nothing and seethe with greed and envy could dub someone an idiot for renting a property.”
...to people on Section 8. He was most certainly a idiot. I don’t rent property and I know what he would have received for doing so. So what is his excuse? Why didn’t he haul his lazy butt over there and check up on HIS tenants to make sure HIS property was kept up to standards?
“2. I despise some of the comments on the youtube link, as many assume its blacks doing all the damage.”
That was cringe-worthy. That is why I usually don’t read the comments there.
If you don’t want to rent to a Section 8 tenant, it didn’t seem difficult to fail the qualifying inspection. I’ve seen what they put DC landlords through who actually wanted Section 8s for the guaranteed payments. No law saying your property has to qualify.
“Why didnt he haul his lazy butt over there and check up on HIS tenants to make sure HIS property was kept up to standards?”
I’ve lived near Section 8 housing. They can destroy a house in a blink of an eye. I wish I had before and after of the last one the people were only in 1-2 months. I assume they were evicted, but by the time they had to leave it was some pretty amazing damage to a very nice, upscale Las Vegas home.
My wife was on assignment in a suburb of Minneapolis and the apartment complex she lived in had Section 8 units. She was paying $1,000 a month to live in what began to look like a bus station in the third world. I half expected to see people coming into the building holding live chickens by the feet or sacrificing goats on the balconies. My cousin who works for the US Census advised her to look for apartments as far as possible from public transportation if you wanted to avoid the Section 8 crowd.
One upscale apartment complex here was taking cash on top of the voucher to pay for very nice apartments. Of course, destroyed the complex within a few years.
Agree with the comments re race. More about trashy people doing trashy things.

Trash the housing market, buy up the underwater houses with taxpayer money, then give it to the entitlement class...
...
Pardon the F-bombs spewing forth from my mouth.
This guy bought a house and then invested his money and heart in making it beautiful, in a high crime area...
Nothing changes. They have done the same thing to every low income housing project ever built.
