Corzine off the crook - No criminal charges
Its official.
Jon Corzine will not be cuffed over MF Globals improper handling of customers funds leading up to the commodity brokerage firms spectacular collapse in late 2011, The Post has learned.
Federal investigators have found no evidence that the disgraced Wall Street titan broke the law.
After 18 months of investigation, the criminal probe into Jon Corzine is now being dropped, a person with knowledge of the probe told The Post.
There is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, this person said.
The Justice Departments decision to drop the case is sure to come as a relief to Corzine, who has been widely blamed for MFGs bankruptcy as well as the misuse of some $1.6 billion in customers funds.
Last week, Corzine was hit with civil charges by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission in connection with the illegal tapping of the funds, which were improperly co-mingled with the MFGs house money in the firms final days.
The regulator also charged Edith OBrien, MFGs former assistant treasurer, for carrying out the illegal transfers in a desperate bid to keep the troubled company afloat.
Both Corzine and OBrien have denied the allegations.
Criminal investigators, including federal prosecutors and the FBI, have been probing the breach since shortly after it was uncovered with its Halloween 2011 bankruptcy.
At the time it was the eighth largest bankruptcy in US history and the largest since Lehman Brothers went under in September 2008.

Nice having friends in high places.
The Democratic [sic] party fix is in.
he lost $1.6BILLION and no one goes to jail?
What did he do- tell them he thought he left it in his other pants pocket?
You don’t just “lose” the money - who got it????
Martha Stewart did what again to go to prison?
If one desires to break laws, there is only one party to consider.
Where did that $1.2 BILLION go? 'Obama for America', or 0bama's presidential campaign? Possibly union pension plans? Or maybe a foreign country like China? Looks like it really IS the 'Just Us' department! Can't their decision be appealed to the Supreme Court? Also, I thought Corzine was still subject to civil charges. Anyone?
“I thought Corzine was still subject to civil charges. Anyone? “
I don’t think being absolved of criminal activity let’s Corzine off the hook for being sued civilly. The folks that lost money with him can still sue him for their losses and the burden of proof in a civil suit is less than in a criminal proceeding. Just look at OJ. I only hope a bunch of investors do sue him!
no- literally, they said they DID NOT KNOW where the money went
” After 18 months of investigation, the criminal probe into Jon Corzine is now being dropped, “

a crime in itself-— ping
Yes we can!
Translation: Corzine knows where ALL the bodies are buried and he can tell the public about the "REAL CROOKS"...
Dog ate it, man.
Will people finally admit that the U.S. government is totally corrupt and dishonest? Will people finally admit that he honest citizen doesn't stand a chance? Will people finally admit that the people in positions of power in our government are liars and thieves?
He didn't “lose” 1.6 billion. It was stolen. Corzine who was legally responsible testified under oath that he had absolutely no idea what happened to the money. Corzine committed perjury in addition to grand robbery.
Investors literally had their money stolen. The Obama Administration says that it is ok.
Ping
Meet the New Comeback Kid.
Now he can get back to “Doing” the People.
Excuse me, I meant “Doing the work for the People!” Back to being a “Public Servant.”
Weiner, Spitzer, Corzine. Yeah, that’s the Ticket.
It is now official. The rule of law is no more in this country. It’s all about who you are. Justice is no longer blind.
Do people realize how scary this is? The US is well on the way to becoming a banana republic.
