If you had a child/son/daughter, would you like to see him or her go into politics as a life’s work?

That’s how Gallup phrased its questions to a random sample of 2,048 adults, 18 and older, living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The telephone survey on June 20-24 found that by a 2-to-1 margin—64 percent to 31 percent—the answer was no, Americans would not like their child to go in to politics as a career. …

Gallup found that non-whites were much more likely than whites to want a political career for their offspring. Democrats tended to favor a political career for their sons and daughters more than Republicans do. And men were more likely than women to want to see their son and daughter go into politics. …

Why would anybody want their child to grow up to be a liar?

I think it has been that way for a long time. Even kids today don't say they want to grow up and be President. Who would want that awful life. Everything single thing you do is criticized by 50 percent of the population. Heck with that.

Running for office should NEVER be a something someone does for a lifetime. Being involve in politics, that is, keeping the b@$t@rs$ who are in office honest, is a lifetime job.

Being a politician means relentlessly raising money for campaigns, doing and saying anything to get it.

No thanks!

Most parents don't want their children to associate with liars, thieves and frauds.

I don’t think anybody should be able to make politics a career.

I don’t want my child to become anything sleazy: not a politician, a thief, or especially an Obama voter. I would understand if they went into politics out of a sense of responsibility and worked to shrink the government, but I’d prefer that they work in a productive sector. I suspect that aversion to politics is why it’s populated mostly by evil.

I would bet they would get the same results if they asked "Would you like your daughters to be sluts and your sons to be drug dealing pimps?".

Considering that our politicians tend to be morally corrupt subhumans who spend much of their efforts getting re-elected by bribing the taxpayers with borrowed money, I don’t blame any parents for wanted to avoid such degradation for their children.
