Mursi role at Syria rally seen as tipping point for Egypt army

CAIRO (Reuters) - Army concern about the way President Mohamed Mursi was governing Egypt reached tipping point when the head of state attended a rally packed with hardline fellow Islamists calling for holy war in Syria, military sources said.

At the June 15 rally, Sunni Muslim clerics used the word "infidels" to denounce both the Shi'ites fighting to protect Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the non-Islamists that oppose Mursi at home.

Mursi himself called for foreign intervention in Syria against Assad, leading to a veiled rebuke from the army, which issued an apparently bland but sharp-edged statement the next day stressing that its only role was guarding Egypt's borders.

"The armed forces were very alarmed by the Syrian conference at a time the state was going through a major political crisis," said one officer, whose comments reflected remarks made privately by other army staff.

Facinating that the Egyptian military was more concerned about radical Islam than was Obama’s chosen puppet.

Obama booted out Mubarak and openly supported the radical Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi. Obama funded Morsi with US tax aid.

What does this tell you about the Islamist, Marxist in our White House when even the Egyptian military sees that Morsi is poison? Obama knowingly supported the radical Islamist in Egypt.

Morsi’s first speech to UN, after being newly elected..regarded action in Syria. Seemed odd at the time..his focus after being elected, was on another country.

Our military swears to protect and defend the Constitution, not the Executive Branch or the Executive should he ignore the Constitution. I don't see that as a flaw but, um, well . . .

Wow that was a lot of people out in the streets, huh? Looks like the military knew that the majority of the people would support them because they want their country back.

An amazing thing to see, really, especially since Egypt doesn't have our long history of jealously guarding and even fighting for our rights and Constitution.
