I am open to placing a bet against this.

I think the chances of that would be much greater
with Morsi and the MB still in power.
They would not have a problem using that to keep
themselves in power.

With the military in charge, there will be no war with Israel.

Not gonna happen, the conditions are FAR different today.

No Super-power benefactor (other than Obama).
No Arab League support and financial backing.
Syria not in any shape to be an ally.

Aside from Iran, this may be the safest period in Israel’s history coming.

No. Egypt’s army does not exist for the destruction of Israel. Right now it is at war with the muslim brotherhood, in fact.

Egypt could feed itself if it could get God to heal it’s land.

It seems to me that they are rejecting the values of the Muslim Brotherhood and that’s a small step in the right direction.

I’m not buying it. Morsi might have made that play but he didn’t. The Army has nothing to gain from it. The coup seems to be going well, they just need to install a government. If the brotherhood starts something serious, it would be easier to crack their heads than to mess with Israel.

Its still a muslim country and I haven’t forgotten that fact.

Looks like I was right about Mohammad ElBaredai running out there to get at the head of the line.

Go for it.

Throughout history, numerous Egyptian armies have successfully ventured outside their boundaries, capturing land and wealth, and have created vast empires. History is on their side.

1967, for example.

Under the MB yes, under the military, no.

Egyptian and Israeli military understand each other very well.

The Egyptian military looks at the Aswan dam and thinks of how easy it would be to turn it into dust. Israel looks and thinks of the same thing.

The MB is crazy and thinks that would be a small price to pay to kill some Jews.

The Egyptian military thinks about how that would wipe many of their families out.

They reach over and firmly remove the MB from power.

Amazing that some people live under a rock and can get nonsense like this published...

Morsi is out because war with Israel was his real aim...as a MB ideologue

The Egyptian army does not want to engage the Jewish state...

No - the Egyptian military owes its existence to the US military - if they go after Israel they will be cutting their own throat.

I've had the opportunity to participate in several joint exercises (Bright Star) with the Egyptian military and I've found the NCO and Officers in general agreement that the rest of the Arab world can go screw themselves. The Egyptian military, in my opinion, is motivated by concern for their country. I don't see them willingly going to war with anybody right now, except for Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

It seems like that sycophant speech of Obama in Egypt in 2008 did not impress the Egyptian people one bit. The only people the faker in chief was able to fool was half the American public.
