I think you overestimate the actual numbers of AQ involved. In my view, although a presence in Syria, AQ is a powerless minority.

Mr McCain. I thank you for your military service to this nation. I am truly sorry for the pain and suffering that you had to endure during that period of your life. I believe your intentions in entering political life was to do good. It's time to walk away if that was the case. You are not doing good. You have caused or allowed much great harm to befall this Nation in recent years. You may well be suffering some mental defect of past experiences and age. But they would be reasons and not excuses. Stop. Walk off. Do the right thing now for your Country.

I’ll take Iran’s side in all of these. Iran is not as a lost case as “our friends” Saudis.

In enlightened Saudi Arabia they behead people for witchcraft or insulting a King with some harmless posts on the Internet.
In Iran they have some kind of Republic. Women allowed to drive a car or get any job, to elect and get elected.
It is not rare if young people are kicking a crap out of imams forcing them to wear veils or pray ten times a day.

Iran is more like an Eastern Europe in the 1980s. There are a lot of open minded educated people, many of them fed up with mullahs who has to adjust their politics considering this fact to avoid revolt.

Iran is by far more sane player than any of Al-Qaeda controlled movements no matter how nasty it’s rhetoric aimed for external consumption.

If you aren’t about to demonize it’s people it has a fat chance to lift a yoke of political islam in a near future.

What is your plan to fight Iran? last time I’ve check Iran is not into building any Caliphate and no Iranese (or Shia in general) taking over blocks in Western cities to establish Sharia and behead people.

Iran’s problem requires political solution, aimed to weaken the regime and allow it’s people take power in their hands. Unlike Arabs they are pretty capable to build something better than United Hate Caliphate.
