You got that part right. That's why there won't be a viable candidate for conservatives in 2016 or ever.
There could be a viable Conservative, it just won't be coming from the GOP.

As an eldest son I would have sympathized with George W. but I have no doubt that the younger Prince Jeb would have run instead of George if he hadn’t had Lawton Chiles scare old people with BS about Jeb stealing their Social Security in 1994. Jeb is Poppy’s favorite. Just like Bobby Ewing.
It’s pretty g*d-darn remarkable that Jeb is even being discussed as a 2016 candidate after his dad and brother both left office less popular than rectal warts. The idea should be a total non-starter with everyone.
It’s hilarious, as Auh2orepublican used to say if Jeb was Jeb Smith he would have been the nominee in 2008 or 12.
And if George was George Smith he’d be selling women’s shoes instead of being a former Governor and President.
Live and die by the family name.
