RNC Chair: 'Broad Consensus' in GOP Want 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform'
Big Government ^ | 6/29/2013 | Tony Lee

Posted on 06/29/2013 7:00:48 PM PDT by markomalley

A day after the Senate passed its immigration bill, RNC Chair Reince Priebus claimed there was "broad consensus" in the Republican party for "comprehensive immigration reform."

"We need comprehensive immigration reform," Priebus told CNN's Peter Hamby on Friday. "I don't think we can continue to drift along with this mess of immigration laws that we have. And a mess that in many regards has been the results of our government not even enforcing the laws that are in place. There is plenty of blame to go around for why we are in this position, but I think it's about time that we address it."

He then asserted it was "clear that there is pretty broad consensus in the party, in the Republican Party, that we need comprehensive immigration reform" and said he knew the House leadership is "committed" to drafting a comprehensive bill.

Republican House leaders have indicated that they will not take up the Senate's bill, but have signalled they will draft "comprehensive" legislation they hope to pass in order to go to conference with the Senate. Conservatives, though, would like a narrower approach that focuses primarily on securing--and funding--border security first.

Preince is peeing on our legs and trying to convince us it’s raining! And can you imagine having Paul Ryan a heartbeat away from the Presidency. I mean this guy is simply a younger version of Joe Biteme!

And a mess that in many regards has been the results of our government not even enforcing the laws that are in place.

So Priebus's solution is to raise the white flag, give amnesty to illegal aliens, and make up a bunch of new laws that he already admits won't be enforced?

/ facepalm

This guy Priebus is another assclown who needs to be purged if the GOP hopes to survive.

I was close to giving the RNC a donation (in response to a telephone call from them)

Luckily, I hadn't sent it in.

Reince, ol' buddy.

The "consensus" is to secure the border.

That's where the consensus begins and ends.

Oh, don't bother calling about the donation.

Man, how this party has collapsed into oblivion. Incredible.

The money is getting spread around.

I think I’m done with them after 33 years.

I registered Republican in the fall of 1980 on my 18th birthday and a few weeks later, voted for Reagan.

Truth be told, I’ve never quite felt as satisfied voting Republican since 1984.

Well then how come we got the no fence, no e-verify, no bio-metric, no beefing up of ICE bill?

What part of “comprehensive” don’t these people understand?

The Republican party has gone corporate. They have no use for the base any longer.

When a bill has the word "comprehensive" in its name it means the legislation contains pork and a pile of crap provisions that would never pass on their own merit. This "comprehensive" horse manure needs to be killed immediately.

BTW, my tagline doesn’t mention the Republican Party.

2ndDivVet tagline: (I'll raise $2million for Sarah Palin's next run. What'll you do?)

You're off the hook. She's not running.

What should happen now if the Republicans weren’t so inept is that the provisions of the Senate disaster just passed should be trumpeted loud and clear on the airwaves at every turn.

Being that the GOPe is bought and paid for fully illustrates why it will not be.

15 Republican Senators out of 47 is NOT a consensus!

Priebus should have been shown the door after the November election debacle as part of a full housecleaning at the RNC.

This party has been fully infiltrated by “former” DNC hacks, corporatists and RINOs.

“I always thought that the Republican leadership can’t be that stupid. But they really are that stupid.”

Its political ineptness combined with being bought and paid for.

You know, it’s simply to “get this issue behind us” or “off the table”.

The trouble with this approach is sooner or later you run out of issues and find out you just lose.
