I sat right down and wrote Google a letter. Cynicism about them may or may not be justified, but I firmly believe in a God of miracles who can bring even the foolish back to their senses. I wrote what I felt inspired to write, and not necessarily what a human might plan, so maybe you may feel I left things out or included something that might seem to you to be distracting or beside the point. However, please feel free to write Google yourself (don't cut and paste my letter, but put it in the words that God inspires you to use).

I was told long ago —I’ve forgotten who told me-—that google was a
“Communist run” org. I’ve never used them since.

I prefer GoodSearach.com

I have a perception that they have let their own giant egos carry them away, which is a common human error in the wake of large success. The China fiasco is an illustration of this, I believe. They were so in love with all the Good Things that their awesomely executed search service would be doing for China that they forgot what a tool for human oppression this awesome technology was also being used to be.

Anyhow I am trying, at least, to be in the business of loving God for God’s sake, and that love carries inherently in it the imperative of passing this love on to others. I don’t see myself here to rebuke Google for fouling up American politics or making America a bad place to live or even for being odious personally to me. Now it could fall on deaf ears, and need to be abandoned as the futile act of casting pearls before swine, but one does not know until one tries. I’ve not heard of anyone trying.

Great letter! Good of you to take the time to compose it... Now, hopefully it will have a positive effect on someone there.

Google merely reflects the Bay Area cultural atmosphere. Stanford, San Francisco, Berkeley. The Indians, the Chinese in the employ of Google Stateside, conservatives in their own lives, just go along with it.

Changed my home page from google to goodsearch based on your recommendation.

Tried a few searches and seems just as thorough and intuitive.

Thanks.

One thing that has astonished me is that I haven’t seen anyone point out that what I called the common mode of expression of “gay” love (i.e. sodomy) is gratuitous violence. In our society that often is so concerned about senseless violence that it will do illogical things like try to make it very hard for honest people to use guns, and which calls it a felony now to be sufficiently cruel to a dog or cat, won’t see that we have here another instance of gratuitous violence being sugar coated. This is the hallmark of the devil, to take something good and use it to cloak something quintessentially vicious and make it look like the good thing requires the vicious thing.

Same here. I now use www.altavista.com which, from what I can see , is a better search engine.

And a lot of what homosexuality is, is male-bonding, which is not a bad thing at all, but desired to a desperate degree and reduced to idolatry because the persons involved are spiritually marooned from God. For the devil to toss something more in to make it more pungent is very easy indeed.

GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo. Yahoo is powered by Bing. So when you use GoodSearch, you are really just using Bing.

Seriously folks, creating a good search engine is something that only a small number of companies have the knowledge and resources to do. We're talking hundreds of thousands of servers here. All these little flea-bag search engines are just slapping their name on top of search results powered by the big guys (Google and Microsoft).

Very good.

Google is a phenomenal operation. I’m also a fan Eric Schmidt from his days at Novell. But, I don’t necessarily share the politics that permeate through Google’s corporate psyche.

With the understanding that love is asexual in nature, I’m at a loss about the defining characteristics of homosexuality, and what exactly is being celebrated. For example, males can love, admire, and respect one another without any sexual form.

To celebrate homosexuality is to celebrate sodomy. Sorry for the narrow focus, but I have no idea what else it could involve.

On my son’s recommendation, I tried “Duck Duck Go” as a search engine. I know, silly name, but when “Google” first started I thought that name was pretty stupid too.

DDG features no IP tracing, no “ad tracking”, it just searches, and it seems just as fast and through as google, to me.

Now, if I could just figure out how to make this stupid I-Pad default to it, I’d be home free.

Is this true of search engines outside of the U.S. and are an extension of the two which are mentioned in your post?

Yeah, and Microsoft is as “Communist” as “Google”. Is there a Chinese search engine? They’re no longer “Communist”!

Good Search also allows you to pick a charity when you first start using them. I picked Second Amendment Sisters as my “charity”.

Over the years, they have sent us about $250 for our “charity”.

Hey—we’re not getting rich from it, but every little bit helps as they say.

Don’t apologize for the narrow focus.

A society that is alarmed by gratuitous violence might, in fact, be open to being reminded that sodomy is such, and if this society counters that it’s only consenting people, they might remember the story of how many boys abused against their will suddenly discovered what a thrill it was... does this mean abusing boys against their will is a good thing? And how about people who want to duel to the death at mutual consent... is that something you want to bless too, Mr. and Mrs. Wise Society?
