Whenever I throw that into a conversation on the general issue of gays and “born that way”, the whole topic tends to get dropped.

It is quite wrong, though to refer to them as men. They were/are women who have impaired themselves (at least, lactationally, not to mention socially and psychologically), while taking on some masculine secondary characteristics.

My post was unclear. I meant that Anne Heche had been married to one man, and then another, and then had a baby, etc., there being no question of her having been a woman the whole time.
You’re right about the “men” who’ve had babies: they’re no more “men” than RuPaul is a “woman.”
He said that some of the "therapies" in the past involved aversive operant behavioral conditioning, and ECT. I pointed out that those same therapies were used to try to help people who suffered from severe depression, anxiety disorders, and OCD. There was no malice involved, those were the best practices of the time, and sometimes successful. And nowadays the "best practices" for trannies include castration, female genital mutilation, and the physical obliteration of secondary sexual characteristics.
This passes for humane, enlightened and progressive. This passes for justice!
And don't forget "peace"!
The statistics on the life expectancy of homosexuals, as well as the incidence of violence, drug abuse, etc., should be sufficient for society to support anyone who doesn't want to practice those behaviors or live a "gay" lifestyle.
