68 Senators Vote to Create Incentive for Employers to Hire Amnestied Immigrants Over U.S. Citizens
Weekly Standard ^ | June 28, 2013 | John McCormack

Posted on 06/28/2013 5:48:27 PM PDT by grundle

The immigration bill passed by the Senate Thursday afternoon would give some employers a financial incentive to employ "registered provisional immigrants" (illegal immigrants granted legal status) instead of U.S. citizens.

As the Washington Examiner's Philip Klein recently reported: "Under Obamacare, businesses with over 50 workers that employ American citizens without offering them qualifying health insurance could be subject to fines of up to $3,000 per worker. But because newly legalized immigrants wouldn’t be eligible for subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges until after they become citizens – at least 13 years under the Senate bill – businesses could avoid such fines by hiring the new immigrants instead."

On Tuesday, THE WEEKLY STANDARD asked five U.S. senators about this problem, and none of them knew if it was a problem. "We're trying to solve that right now. I don't know if that's been solved," Senator Max Baucus of Montana (chief author of Obamacare) told THE WEEKLY STANDARD.

"I don't know. I'd have to look at it closely," said Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. "I just haven't read it that closely to know."

As The New Republic, Investors' Business Daily, and the Washington Examiner have all reported, this problem certainly does exist, and the bill was never amended to fix the problem before it was passed by the Senate on a 68-32 vote Thursday afternoon. "[Registered provisional immigrants] are not subject to mandate and the do not count towards an employer's penalty," Sean Neary, communications director for the Senate Finance Committee, told THE WEEKLY STANDARD in an email late Thursday night.

Guess it’s time to renounce my citizenship, go to Mexico, and then swim on back.

The Senate held the line on gun control. It's up to the house to hold the line on amnesty now.

It’s the 21st century.

Airplanes fly faster,

Cars go faster.

Politicians now break their campaign promises in just days and weeks whereas it once took months, even years.

People vote for these lazy dumb asses!

“I don’t know. I’d have to look at it closely,” said Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. “I just haven’t read it that closely to know.”

It’s worse then what this article says, read what Ted Cruz found, Ted Cruz Exposes the Amnesty Bill… $5000 Penalty for Hiring Citizens Over Legalized Aliens… SERIOUSLY!!!” We can’t possibly expect our Senators to read a 1200 page bill before voting on it. Can we? Well Thank God Ted Cruz read it. Not only did Cruz read it but he schooled anyone who would listen from the Senate floor on Tuesday. Cruz found a loophole that actually penalizes an employer $5000 for hiring a citizen over a legalized alien.

"THE WEEKLY STANDARD asked five U.S. senators about this problem, and none of them knew if it was a problem."

The Weekly Standard could have interviewed all 68 of the traitors who voted for this abomination, and I can guarantee you that NONE of them would have been aware of this loophole.

We all know that it's because they shirked their responsibility to carefully study this legislation, down to the finest detail, then engage in a full throated debate about the merits and shortfalls, on the American people's behalf.

This is TREASON at its most fundamental level. None of these 68 Senators gave a thought to the fact that they could be selling out their countrymen for political expediency. In fact, most probably didn't even care if they were.

We now have an elite class of grossly empowered people who are systematically dismantling our country, root, branch, and limb. Dammit, we have GOT to stand up and make a noise heard round the world about this before it's too late!

At the end of each session, every member of Congress should be required to take a relatively simple Exit Exam that asks True/False questions about random sub-sections in bills that became law that session.

Anyone failing should be tarred and feathered.

I just don’t think the low information voters will ever understand what has happened. They remain forever clueless and many barely literate.

Notice it was 54 Democrats and 14 Republicans. Fourteen is still too high for any Republican to vote for this putrid bill but look at how all of the Democrats voted in lock step.

I’m truly wondering how big brother is going to play this to the true American people a decade or so from now when only the foreigners are getting the benefits of living in America.
