Next weeks cover is a painting of Bert and Ernie cuddling on a couch while watching the nine Supreme Court justices on television. The artwork is titled, Moment of Joy.
Its amazing to witness how attitudes on gay rights have evolved in my lifetime, artist Jack Hunter, the artist told The New Yorker. The magazine said Hunter submitted the unsolicited artwork via Tumblr.
This is great for our kids, a moment we can all celebrate, he told the magazine.
In 2011 the Sesame Workshop addressed questions about the sexual orientation of Bert and Ernie in a Facebook posting.
Bert and Ernie are best friends, the statement read. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.
So that settles that.
I always thought the point of Sesame Street was to teach kids to get along not to get it on.
And Lord only knows who Elmo is tickling.
In all likelihood, they didn't. It's a gray area whether they need to-- it probably counts as "fair use." I suspect PBS won't sue them; they will try to avoid annoying any major bloc in Congress by saying that they didn't take sides, didn't authorize it, but didn't try to stop it.
This isn’t PBS.

Perhaps you can explain to me how a Government attempt to legitimizing a perversion is good for children!
Ok, so as of Wednesday, Green Bay’s professional football team now has the most offensive mascot name in sports, right?
Dittos...
“Anything the left can do to get kids introduced to the queer life they will do.”
That is not only the queers’ intent, but their motivation and purpose in life and in activism. They leave nothing safe, kids cannot turn on the TV even PBS, without seeing homo propaganda and now they cannot even read an issue of the New Yorker without the gay agenda being slapped in their face.
As Americans and Christians we want to protect our children but their is no safe place.
Next up: Neil Simon announces that the The Odd Couple were actually gay.
Right you are! The Fudge Packers not the Meat Packers or the Cheese Packers. More offensive to me than any of those names related to Indians. Oh, I long for the return of the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers. That was a great name.
No more sunny days for my house!

NPR
Network for queers.
LOL
Before you know it, kids will not be saying to their parents — “I think I’m gay”. They’ll be asking “Can I be gay too?”
Nauseating Pickle Rangers.
Limiting marriage to one man and one woman is bigotry. Get your laws off women's bodies. Defend a woman's right to choose. Love is not a felony. Equal rights for all !!!
Can’t you just picture Bert and Ernie tossing around on the couch trying to find a place to shove their cloth encrusted pickle?
