Just before the break, the prosecution objected to a question asked of the witness by the defense. The judge overruled, but also told them it was the wrong objection, signaling to them to try another! Can she even do this, legally? They did try another, but it wasn't the one she was looking for.

I would say she can’t do that...but, I’m not an attorney nor do I play one on TV...didn’t even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...
This judge is openly hostile to the defense, and this is not the first incident. Zimmerman’s fighting uphill, in the wind, through the snow. If he wins, it will be a completely fair and justified win.
I would not, however, put it past the idiot Martins to sue him civilly.

I don’t know the question you’re referring to or what the objection was, but I’ve heard judges do that before. Not in a nationally-televised criminal case, but I have heard it.
I’m betting the pressure is going to be on for the jurors to return a finding of guilty. The images of L.A. be set alight in 1992 after the Rodney King verdicts are still seared in some minds. They don’t want their city being burned down.
Remember that most appellate court judges were trial judges at one time. They defer heavily to the discretion of the trial judge in these matters, i.e. it isn’t going to be considered wrong if appealed.
An example of abuse of discretion would be the trial judge telling the prosecution the specific objection to make that will be upheld, such as “Don’t you mean to object because the question requires this fact witness to render an expert opinion?”
I watched all day yesterday, she seems to be doing the same for/to both sides.
I’m not a legal expert, but it has appeared to me all along that the judge is hostile to the defense.
She’s been hostile to the defense from the git-go, putting her thumb on the scales. BARF

Of course, being found “not guilty” by a court of law USED to be a definitive defense in civil suits. . .
America held hostage by the threat of black revolt. 0bama gets away with murder because of this. This phenomenon has tainted jury verdicts and destroyed our country.
I do not believe the Martins are actually married. I don’t believe they were ever married. Remember, Trayvon was “visiting his father” in Orlando. He’s originally from the Miami area where he was living with his mother. That’s a good indication that they weren’t “together.”
It’s also not spoken much, but Trayvon was actually “visiting his father,” because he was suspended from school for possession of marijuana and burglary tools. That’s never going to come out in the trial, but it’s well-documented.
It should be no surprise to anyone how many black communities “work” in the legal system the way they do. Most of these 1-800 legal referral services are voiced on the radio and TV by black men and/or women. Just think of 1-800-ASK-GARY and “Roz.” If you’re from Central Florida, you know what I’m talking about.
It’s also a fact that a majority of cash advance stores in Florida are located in predominantly minority areas/neighborhoods. I always found that funny.

In other words, yes they will sue.
