Canada, U.S. finally reach Peace Bridge deal after months of public trash-talking

WASHINGTON — Canada and the United States have reached an agreement on the future of the Peace Bridge following months of bad blood between Canadians and Americans on the 80-year-old committee that oversees the crucial southern Ontario border crossing.

Gov. Mario Cuomo and Gary Doer, the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., said Wednesday that the agreement — reached after several days of high-level meetings — will speed up improvements to the Peace Bridge, one of the busiest border crossings between the U.S. and Canada.

“It’s called the Peace Bridge, it’s not called the Conflict Bridge,” Doer said in an interview from Buffalo following the announcement. “This is a good deal for hard hats, not lawyers.”

If states aren't allowed to enforce Federal immigration laws (as has recently been decided by SCOTUS) then states can't get involved in issues pertaining to international borders.So Cuomo The Lesser is told to pound sand and Canada negotiates with the State Department.Although with the recent revelations about the IRS there's no guarantee that the Dept of State will be any less corrupt than that crook in Albany.

This is 100% Andrew Cuomo creating a crisis, so he can throw his weight around, get headlines and then claim he “solved” the problem. its fodder for his future political plans.

There is absolutely nothing in this agreement that was not already planned by the Peace Bridge Commission. Everything will proceed just as it was planned before he created the false crisis.
