“Within 3 years all states will have it. Kennedy in his ruling mention equal protection that means game over.”

I completely agree. The 14th Amendment ensures that, once gay rights have been “federalized” (as they were in the DOMA ruling), no state will be able to maintain laws restricting marriage to opposite-sex couples. That is precisely why I have been urging fellow conservatives to push for government to get out of the marriage business altogether.

We might as well go all in on the homo issue and start a movement to draft a Constitutional amendment defining it a monogamous and heterosexual. It would take 38 states to ratify such an amendment and there are already 34 with laws or state constitutional amendments prohibiting homos from marrying. With off-year elections coming up, I have no doubt we could get the legislatures in an additional 4 states to ratify. Then we can put an end to this abominable farce once and for all.

You're presuming that all 34 would vote for your amendment.

Given California's trending, the most recent vote in Minnesota (which is one of your 34 but wouldn't even amend its own constitution after that) and the general polling nationwide, that's a pretty silly presumption to make. If you can't even hold on to the 34 we "have", how will you possibly get to 38?

No, I'm afraid our window has closed. I doubt we could even get many of those existing laws passed today, much less a Constitutional Amendment.

We’ll never know unless we try. Considering what’s at stake, it’s worth the fight.

We’re doomed.

Sad to say, we are. As I have posted this numerous times on FR, I do not expect to see another fair national election in my lifetime.

Have you ever seen one? Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, I believe that I have many times in my life. Have there been instances of cheating? I am sure there have been — on both sides. Perhaps “fair election” was not a good choice of a phrase. What I meant was that I do not expect to see an election that is not rigged nationwide.

The only time I’ve seen a good election, was President Ronald Reagan. The only candidate I’ve fully supported and won. The priors and latters were anti-votes. Regardless, I fully agree with- “I do not expect to see an election that is not rigged nationwide.” Thank you, for your opinion.

It brings me great pain to admit that. Breaks my heart that the America I grew up in is gone.

Ain’t gone yet. The United States of America, is still holding unto the Flame of Liberty. I’ve been saddened by the last 48 years. The advances have been well shortchanged, by every last step, into our current times. My heart is not broken, and I suspect- neither is yours. Our children have a long way home. Let’s teach them about life, Bigg Red, so they can teach the others. The United States is not gone. Not by a far sight.

Oh, Red, I so hope you are right. I certainly tried to teach my now grown children. I brought them up Catholic with clear cut moral guidelines, and I taught them to love their country, but I really was not aware enough of the total cultural rot and the carefully orchestrated attack on Western civilization that was underway.

Perhaps my pessimism is colored by the fact that I live in Maryland, with a state legislature clearly run by the forces of the enemy. The public school system here is an assembly for the Bill Ayers system of indoctrination, and the end products are undereducated Obamabots.

I certainly hope that I am wrong and you are right.

You have done a great work, with your children. I may have done okay, by mine. Hope is our faith, in the day to day grind, of doing the next right thing, no matter what life presents. All my best to you

Great work? I don’t know about that. They hold some disturbing libertarian views. Hoping that they gain wisdom with age.

My God sustains me, though, when I worry about the future.

And all the best to you, as well, my FRiend.
