Snowdon isn't an embarrassment. American domestic and foreign policy is the embarrassment... and has been for a long time.

Just read an article in the National Review that was disparaging of Korea and Japan for not carrying their burden for self defense in their region of the world. Of course the article conveniently omitted that US foreign policy forbade these countries to rearm and defend themselves.

Liars and charlatans all of them.

Or vacation is cover for other activity, whether personal or political, that would not survive public scrutiny. Or vacation is just hiding out, because he’s not really in charge, someone else is, so he literally has nothing better to do. Or vacation is psyop, deliberately flouting his power. Or some combination of the above. But just kicking back and recharging like ordinary folk? Probably not.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) fired off a letter to Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak today urging Moscow “to apprehend [Snowden] and turn him over to United States authorities immediately.”

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) urged Russia to turn over Snowden in a statement today.

“Edward Snowden is not a whistleblower worthy of protection, but a fugitive deserving of prosecution,” said Menendez. “He violated his sworn pledge to protect classified information. He jeopardized our national security. And he betrayed the trust of the American people. This man is no hero.”

The Russians must be just laughing their asses off.

I wasn’t. A number of us here were not. Also many on both sides of the aisle can see that what is happening with the government and surveillance is not good.

Nope I wasn't. There are a number of statist freepers for whom the government can do no wrong. I'm not one of them.

I'd not considered 19th century presidents, but you have a compelling argument.

I don't think so. I thought that FR was a real oasis from the media lap-dogging the Obama line. Mose of the anti-Snowden remarks seemed like plants spreading the federal "company line"....JMHO

I'm not sure it's possible to embarrass this narcissistic jerk in the WH.......

THIS MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD: Carney said at the presser Snowden’s claim to support transparency was belied by his choice of safe havens — Russia, China and Ecuador........ “His failure to criticize these regimes suggests that his true motive throughout has been to injure the national security of the United States, not to advance Internet freedom and free speech,” Carney said (with a straight face).

I guess this dumb schnook and his ignorant boss in the WH haven't heard the latest (cackle).

Snowden seeks asylum in corrupt Ecuador---b/c he knows sap-happy Ohaha wont queer that deal. Ecuadorians are Third World latinos---O needs them to stay in power another 10-20 years.

(Wiki leaker Julian Assange is staying at Ecuador's embassy in Britain---his group is financing fellow-leaker Snowden)

BTW, the US has no diplos in Ecuador---they threw out the one we had b/c our diplo squealed on their corruption and heroin drug-running.....but Ecuador still gets some $35 million foreign aid from the US........PLUS.

How much do Ecuadorians living here illegally send back to the corrupt federales? And how did Ecuador influence the "reform bill" to solidify THEIR interests.

For example---The corrupt Dominican Republic depends on the BILLION US tax dollars PER YEAR its illegal populations in the US send back home to the poverty-stricken Third World hellhole.

=================================================

The stranglehold corrupt Third Worlds have on the US was never more apparent.

The amount of US money sent back to Mexico from those in the US is second only to oil as Mexico's GNP. I suspect Equador and similar countries is about the same.
