It hasn't been mentioned as a factor.
But you know the cartels are vitally interested. And you know they're spreading some money around.
It would certainly explain some rather bizarre choices -- particularly by the likes of Marco Rubio and Lindsay Graham (I don't think McCain needs any nefarious inducements to do the wrong thing).
I'd certainly like to hear some expert speculation on this subject.
