that won’t do anything to hamper the cartels and the violence they do....
Of course it will. The mafia no longer gets rich off of booze.
sure it does....they run it through restaurants and liquor stores....just because it is legal to sell doesn’t mean that the mafia hasnt found a way to make money of off it....
We lived in eastern WA about 25 years ago. I worked in the Juvenile Court/ met with the Police Department about some case or other. The guy told me, ‘This is a major drug highway coming up from Mexico. The cartels nab some guy trying to cross the border and threaten to turn him into authorities unless he’ll run drugs for them up into Washington.’
This has been brewing for some long time.
Plainly put, if we had a secure border, this guy would be alive now.
That, and shutting down lemonade stands.
Oregon is reaping what it sowed for decades of leftist deconstruction of American society, promoting alternative lifestyles that destroy the mind and body, hiring and graduating communists and marxists of all stripes from their universities (Evergreen for one), tolerating illegal immigrants, drugs, and refusing to help the federal govt detect Islamic extremists.
A beautiful state run by a bunch of leftist looney-tunes. Welcome to Obamaland in the West. Washington State isn’t any better; just beautiful but full of crappy people.
Meanwhile the bodies pile higher and higher and they want more gun control. Yep, the drug-dealers and jihadists’ best friends run these states while societal rot creeps in like a pedophile through an open window.
The entire immigration discussion has paid virtually no attention to what is one of the most concerned parties: the drug cartels.
Whose side do you suppose they're on? Where do you suspect they're sending their money?
You know damn good and well they're involved, somehow.
Personally, I'm wondering how Lindsay Graham's campaign account has profited from all this...

You tell everyone that “the road to serfdom is paved with good intentions.” So, the children of drug addicts/manufacturers/dealers- are nothing to you? Alright, andyk. You sure made your point. I know different, and so do you.
Actually, that’s the first time I’ve ever said that. Not sure where you get your info from.
Furthermore, your straw man argument isn’t worth my time.
The drugs are a weapon against America, just like opium was a weapon against the Empire of China.
When we are attacked by an outside force trying to tear the U.S.A. apart, it is the Federal Government’s responsibility.
You need to be better informed.
I have a better idea. Maybe we could execute people who think executing a couple of million people would be good for the country.
Your idea has all the charm of Red China, North Korea, or Cuba.
Nothing to worry about here.
Soon those Mexican drug cartels will get Amnesty courtesy of Rubio and Obama, and then they will be Americans just like you and me.
If what you say is true, and I’ve been in the hospitality industry for a while and never seen it, it’s about theft, graft, avoidance of taxes and grift. The streets don’t run red with blood because of it. Plus, it’s illegal at the state level, and I have no problem with that. Do you support using the interstate commerce clause to make substances illegal? I don’t. I see a difference between interstate and intrastate commerce. You’d be surprised at how many FReepers believe the end justifies the means. Are you one of them?
The war on drugs has been used to tear up the Constitution far more than the use of drugs ever did.
There aren’t enough cells on the planet to hold only the American pot smokers, let alone those who use other drugs.
As long as you admit that the interstate commerce clause applies to intrastate commerce, then you’re consistent. Otherwise...
I am not happy with you using a communist slur to describe me (running-dog). It’s despicable.
The outside force has power because of your war on drugs, not in spite of it. Open your mind.
It’s fine by me.
The only good drug-dealer is a dead drug-dealer.
Open yours, Andyk!
Running dog: ever since Castro started financing the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S. in the late 50s and early 60s, the War has been on. If you were unaware of the communists behind the illicit drug trade, well you are aware of it now.
Ignorant: because you don’t understand how the massive importation of mind-altering addictive substances fenced to children has massively affected our nation.
It starts with marijuana, used by children under the age of 16, and literally alters the wiring of the growing brain. It can cause schizophrenia for some in late middle age, and is why my sister is borderline schizoid. It has affected her neurological system the most, causing her to feel great pain all the time to the extent she is dosed daily on morphine with the resulting nausea being countered by marijuana constantly. She is legally stoned and we, the taxpayers, are paying for it.
The reason RedHeeler is in the “To:” lineup is because he/she probably has had the same experience I’ve had — taking care of children left in the wake of addicted and addled parents. There are millions of these children now, and more are joining their ranks everyday.
My nephew was physically and mentally abused by his mother’s boyfriends and pushers; his dad was too busy with heroin to muster any sensible counter action.
My nephew was abandoned on his grandparents front steps, thankfully. I reared my nephew and he is now an employed 21-year old and doing well.
This isn’t about people who like to grow a little weed and get stoned at home. If only it was that simple. Yeah, there are a few of those but the majority have gone on to harder stuff and their health suffers.
One of the long term affects of consistent drug usage is the degradation of bones. Teeth rotting is a good indication of the condition of the skeleton. Both my nephews parents have that problem and are on the government dole - healthcare, food stamps, social security - we are paying their way.
And yes, it shouldn’t be this way but it is what it is and drugs are cause.
