Bipartisan Group of Senators: Quit Arming Syrian Rebels
American Prowler ^ | 6.20.13 | Matt Purple

What can bring a New England liberal and a southern Tea Partier together, other than the theme song from “The Odd Couple”? Staying out of Syria’s messy civil war.

From Sen. Rand Paul’s press office:

Today, U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Mike Lee (R-UT), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced bipartisan legislation to prohibit the President from using any funds on activities that would escalate U.S. involvement in the Syrian civil war.

The bill would ban the Department of Defense, the CIA and all other intelligence agencies from funding any military, paramilitary or covert operations in Syria. The legislation would not affect humanitarian aid.

Find out the REAL truth about Benghazi and you won’t need such a law because Obama will be removed from office!

Irrelevant. Why do we think the administration was funneling arms out of Libya? It’s just another executive branch ploy to earn its own money, much like Iran-Contra.

On several issues, from the Syrian rebels to NSA spying, it’s interesting to see the unusual “bi-partisan” alliances cropping up.

Hard-core independent conservatives aligning with civil libertarians over the NSA revelations, while the political elite condemn the whistleblower as a traitor.

Now we have this alliance over Syria, even within the political elite.

There are some serious fundamental changes taking place in our country, and it’s pretty clear to me that the USA of 2020 will look nothing like the USA of 2000. And I don’t think it’s for the good, unfortunately. But I can always hope and pray.

"His excellency will veto it."

His golem, Harry Reid, will never let it come to a vote.

the bills are submitted to make the leftists in both parties deal with them. it’s a form of asymetric battle.

Anyone else tired of “groups of Senators” or “gangs of Senators”? It’s like a Middle School club.

Not tired of this group of senators when they stand up for the Constitution and common sense. It’s long overdue and may many more join them.

Where the heel is Obastard getting the money to purchase these weapons? Does he have an infinite slush fund of taxpayere dollars that he doesn’t have to account for? And where the hell is Kerry getting the money he is passing out all over the mid east?

At least Chris Murphy is consistent, he doesn’t want Syrian rebels or American rebels to have guns.

Good. The House also needs to sign on to this and refuse to fund any boots on the ground in Syria.

NO MORE WARS! Haven’t we lost enough heroes? Haven’t we wounded and maimed and scarred for life enough of our brave military men & women? Haven’t we wasted enough hard earned taxpayer money?

Sarah had it right, let them kill each other and Allah can sort them out.

“Strong on defense” is only three words, but too many Republicans don’t apparently know the meaning of “Defense”.

It would please the Resident's Saudi patrons greatly to expand the Grand Caliphate through Syria and beyond. He's already tipped the balance in Libya and Egypt.
