The Obama administration expects to move ahead with plans to meet with Taliban representatives in the next few days, despite a still-simmering dispute with Afghan President Hamid Karzai over the negotiations that led him Wednesday to suspend separate talks over a key U.S.-Afghan security pact.
Administration officials, including Secretary of State John F. Kerry, spent much of Wednesday scrambling to defuse Karzais anger over the Talibans news conference on Tuesday, during which the insurgents announced that they would open an office in Qatar, raised their flag and stood under a banner reading the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan the name they used when they ruled Afghanistan a decade ago despite written U.S. promises that such a move would not be allowed.
Kerry telephoned Karzai twice and spoke to government officials in Qatar, and the administration said publicly that Karzai was justifiably upset. The Qataris met Karzais demands to remove an Islamic Emirate plaque that the Taliban had affixed to the wall of the groups new office and issued a statement saying that the venue was to be known officially as the political bureau of the Taliban Afghan in the Persian Gulf state.
By the end of the day, although Karzai remained publicly defiant, the administration appeared confident that the crisis had cooled sufficiently to reschedule the opening session of the U.S.-Taliban talks, which initially had been set for Thursday. The meeting could take place as early as Friday but was likely to be held off until after a Kerry visit to Qatar on Saturday for talks on Syria. . .

Why are we meeting with the Taliban if the war on terror is over.
Do we have any allies still who we have not yet betrayed under Obama’s “leadership”??? (Other than al Quaida and the Taliban?)

The Taliban are not an enemy of the U.S. and should not be talked about in such terms, Joe Biden has claimed.
The vice-president said the militant Islamist group only represents an inherent threat if it allows Al-Qaeda to strike at the U.S.
In an interview with Newsweek, Mr Biden warned against labelling the Taliban as an enemy.

oh...sorry, gubmint...did I say “blast”???
Despite Karzai’s ire, Obama is confident he can sell him out to the Taliban.
Looks like we have officially lost the war in Afghanistan.
We are now beginning the process of reinstalling the government that so many of our brave men and women died to overthrow.
Yeah, there’s...umm...well no. (Does Antarctica count?)
I'm confident that talks with Taliban will now be held too, and I have been since Obama's open admission that he would have more "flexibility" after the election.
Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, , even Iraq has exploded and then the soldier who has been kidnapped for 4 years by these clowns in Afghanistan .\Talking to Iran, LOL yea that went well
Now he wants to talk to the enemy , to Islamic nutjobs who live in 893 AD and then they kill 4 more of ours and then Karzai backs out of talks and this dope is still out there saying we will do this.
This is insane ,even for a far left kook like Obama and his thugs
he tries to fight a war without killing anyone,
Tells the enemy when we draw down, when we will leave.
Now tells the enemy can we have peace and lets sit down as we’re leaving soon.
I just hope we get the grown ups back in power soon and lets not forget Libya and obamas war on that country to let the muslim brotherhood in ,much like Egypt has cause 4 Americans to die and thousands of Christians .
If Obama had not started the war in Libya to get rid of Gaddafi then Stevens and the others would still be alive
