A lot of Protestants use it too and it isn’t contraception. It leaves open the possibility of life... that’s the point. Most kinds of contraception prevent the fertilized egg from implanting so if one believes that life begins at conception then it’s a form of abortion.
Most kinds of contraception prevent the egg and sperm from coming into contact with each other. That is countering conception, not preventing implantation. It may be tampering with the odds from a religious perspective, but it is definitely NOT abortion.

That is true. Many contraceptives are actually abortifacients.
