Jesse Daniels, 53, is accused of endangering the welfare of children for the actions he took after catching four boys in the act of vandalizing his father-in-laws home over the weekend. With extensive damage done to the inside of the house, Daniels and his wife called 911 and he went inside of the residence to confront the boys.
But thats not all: Daniels put the kids inside of a closet while he waited for authorities to arrive. It was this latter action that created an even bigger legal conundrum.
The vandalism unfolded in Clyde, New York, a small town between between Rochester and Syracuse. Daniels lives next door to the home his father-in-laws residence that is under continued renovation and when he heard noises and saw the lights on, he knew something was wrong. The local man could face up to one year in county jail for each offense, meaning that a total of four years of detention, pending Daniels receives the max penalty, could be his ultimate ramification.

Someone yesterday, posted a link with pics of the damage. Looks like an easy 10 grands worth.
Not necessary in my state.
Just shoot the "home invaders", dial 911 and request an ambulance and the police.
i was told i could be charged with kidnapping. according to polk county PD
I believe in efficiency so I would skip a step:
Cut the thugs up into small pieces and distribute them throughout at least ten states. Then shut the hell up.
I suggest that the parents did this as a preemptive attack, correctly assuming that the homeowner would file a huge lawsuit against them for the damages. His best defense right now is to file a lawsuit against them for much more than actual damages, offering to drop it back to actual damages if they drop the charges against him.
When you live in the land of the litigious, the man who sues first often wins.
Should’ve told the cops that there are a couple of dogs in that closet...*problem solved*
Immoral, unethical behavior rules in this country today from the top to the bottom and if someone takes a stand against it....this is the result.
Why would the little creeps not be responsible for the damage they caused? No matter what the man did, the creeps still did the damage. I do not understand...
New Yawk, figures!
Night is day, day is night, wrong is right, right is wrong.
Under the same premise, the home owner ought to file charges against the police for kidnapping him when they detained him.
I think they should be responsible. I surmise that daddys dearests were pressing charges so that an “agreement” could be reached where they would drop the charges if there little darlings were given a pass on monetary damages.
forget that noise! i can see working out a plea, but the damages should be paid no matter what... besides, it is not his property... it is father-in-law’s, who has nothing to do with locking the kids in a closet...
How true. Thank you schmuck lawyers.
Doesn’t matter if you kill them or lock them up for a few minutes, you are in the wrong. So, just let them destroy things and let insurance pay....then pay more for insurance!
I don’t even see a plea. He was protecting the property and keeping the kids safe in a closet until the police arrived. Personally, I probably would have beaten them to a bloody pulp and then buried them all in the name of bad rubbish.
FOX news was tearing this story apart. Can’t remember the two males hosts but they related how their parents would have torn their behinds up if they’d done this and went on to say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree - rotten kids, rotten parents. Just wait until the father of these little darling angels files against FNC. You know it’s coming. He should be thankful this didn’t happen in Texas or another state with castle laws. If they get a lib judge, that’ll give them the excuse to get bolder as they get older and their names will be in the papers in a few short years.
The father-in-law needs to put the house on the market because those kids and their father will never be good neighbors.
FNC said the home owner could only get $5000 from each kid in a suit. I don’t know any more than that or why.
The charges are BS. Try to get a jury to convict.
I doubt that the law would even allow them to be put in reform school. At that age there is virtually nothing the legal system can do to them.
