Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans to start reducing health insurance coverage next year for more than 30,000 retired city workers and begin shifting them to President Barack Obama's new federal system.
The move is aimed at saving the city money
Once the phaseout is complete, those retired workers would have to pay for their own health insurance or get subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. The city-subsidized coverage is particularly important to retired workers who aren't yet eligible for Medicare
Henry Bayer, executive director of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 31, said the uncertainties of the Affordable Care Act and the state insurance exchanges they would create make the city's plan hard to assess.
"This uncertainty will cause anxiety and fear for tens of thousands of seniors who gave their working lives to public service men and women whose retirement savings are already under attack in the name of 'pension reform.'" Bayer said.

Here is Obama with his repeated promises that if people liked their health care plans, they could keep those plans:

And they get to meet the smiling bureaucrat to sign them up for it, and help fill out all those forms. I hope his name is Ben, Ben Dover....
When the plague finally leaves office, he is NOT going back to Chicagostan. He is going back to Hawaii and live like the King he thinks he is now. Poetic justice to a cesspoll who foisted upon us this creature.
HA!
Bwahahahahahahaha.....
Must be a real bitch to get ska-rood out of your own double standard, huh?

Riot, you union trough-sloppers! Riot!
Why not? Most of ‘em are probably only forty or so. They are in plenty good enough shape for a 45th Anniversary reprise of the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
It’ll be a fairer fight this time around, since half the RIOTERS will probably be retired nasty Chicago cops. :-)
Back in 2010 I bet they supported Obama-care passage assuming that it would only hurt others.
Welcome to the party, Jack. You have only yourself to blame.
Awaiting 2 tears.
Its not fair that retired government workers be treated like the rest of us. They gave us their lives in serving us, just like the unpaid family nanny(or undocumented nanny), and they asked for nothing in return.(except to retire early on a big fixed pension)
Oh why is life so unfair?
This should ignite a class action lawsuit against the city of Chicago on behalf of all other tax paying Americans. We are being stuck with the tab for health care that we had no part of negotiating. In addition, we received no benefits from the workers involved. No representation. No benefits. Only the tab. This will not fly. Chicago must face its own problems without expecting the rest of America to pay its bills.
