Arming the Syrian rebels would be “pressing weapons into the hands of maniacs and Al-Qaeda thugs,” London’s mayor has warned. His is the latest call in a wave of rhetoric urging the UK prime minister not to provide the Syrian rebels with weapons.
Writing for British publication The Telegraph, Boris Johnson wrote that the UK must not use Syria as “an arena for muscle flexing.”
“We can’t use Syria as an arena for geopolitical point-scoring or muscle-flexing, and we won’t get a ceasefire by pressing weapons into the hands of maniacs,” wrote Johnson.
He joins a number of prominent British political and social figures in an attempt to dissuade Prime Minister David Cameron from sending arms to the Syrian opposition.

He’s going to have to stand for a Parliamentary constituency before he can do that. Unlike many people, I don’t believe he will ever become PM. He is far too eccentric and whilst they are prepared to let him do something relatively harmless like govern London at a local level, I can’t see many people trusting him with his finger hovering over the red button.
He’s pretty wild but I like him.

That said, what Boris is saying is spot on. I just can’t conceive of what the logic behind our actions in the middle east are. And this goes back to the Iraq war, so Bush’s hands aren’t clean either.
Our country seems to be hell bent on undermining the secularist governments under the guise of liberty. But any idiot knows that what follows these revolution isn’t liberty but the chains of Sharia law.
These people aren’t modern people living in modern times, and since the choice is either to have them forced into modernity through secular dictatorships or to live in the stone age with them, I opt to stand by the beard-shaving dictators. Why doesn’t our government, knowing this alternative?
I can only guess that it’s intentional. Setting up the next war. We’re manufacturing our future enemies.
One by one we’ll knock down the secularists. And then one by one we’ll knock down the Islamists who follow.
