Cheney says NSA monitoring could have prevented 9/11

The United States might have been able to prevent the deadly Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington had controversial National Security Agency surveillance practices been in place at the time, former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.

The former No. 2 in the Bush administration defended the NSA's ability to monitor phone and email data, and labeled as a "traitor" the analyst who has admitted to having leaked details about the classified program.

Not if we refused to monitor mosques and muslims (as we do know).

It didn’t stop the Boston Marathon Bombers... Why should we think it could have stopped 9/11?

Don’t think so. The government had info on the Muslim Boston Murderers and dismissed it. The NSA, FBI and DOJ are only interested in white, conservative, Bible thumping, gun toting Americans. Case closed.

This assumes the government is interested in its enemies, not its citizens. The US cannot clearly define enemy.

Just like it prevented the Boston bombing - - right? Maybe we should pay a little attention to those who have identified this Country as their enemy - like Egypt and, well, the rest of the muzzies.

Monitoring Southern Baptists isn't going to prevent a damned thing.

It's going to take some profiling, most terrorists seem to have certain identifying characteristics even though we aren't allowed to notice them.

Just like it stopped those tsarnaev boys, right Dick?

These feral goobermint statists can whine about the exposure of their precious surveillance programs all they want. In reality, their vaunted agencies haven’t captured one mohammedan terrorist whitout the direct involvement of AMERICAN CITIZENS - you know, the same ones you’re all spying on.

Go back you your comfortable retirement, Dick. You and Jorge started this mess because you knew you could. You never stopped to think about whether you SHOULD. Now look who’s in charge.

Cheney is a liar. They’ve been spying since before 9/11.

Yeah. I guess the expired visas, the fake driver's licenses, the alerts from the pilot training school in Arizona that there were guys who only wanted to know how to take the controls of an airliner in mid-flight but not how to take off or land just wasn't enough.

If only we could've listened to Joe Sixpack engaging in phone sex with his wife, Suzy Homemaker.

yes, revealing our national security secrets is a treasonous act

but, Mr Cheney, abrogating an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution ought to be an impeachable offense

the NSA cannot have a blank check merely because it “makes their job easier”, because making their job easier is not an objective of our Constitutional protections

no, we cannot trade Libery for security

to say it is necessary for security leads to tyranny and that process is irrelevant to anyone’s good intentions

That’s a bunch of B.S. just like the tsarnev brothers there was plenty of warning but due to political correctness these warning were ignored. The Muslims in pilot training were setting off alarm bells and everyone looked the other way. Same thing with the first trade center bombing...

Back then, Gorelick’s wall prevented intelligence agencies from sharing info with law enforcement, right? So the FBI wouldn’t have known about it, anyway.

But is did not prevent Boston. Several warnings from the Russians could not be put together with info from the NSA. Wake up people we are being handed a line of Bull Crap. Cheney is telling us to give up our freedom. It is a lie.
