'M' or 'F'? Outdated IDs worry transgender people
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | June 15, 2013 | LISA LEFF

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Lauren Grey didn't think much about the gender recorded on her Illinois driver's license until she went to test-drive a new car. Although she had been living as a woman for months and easily obtained a license with her new name and a picture reflecting her feminine appearance, Grey's ID still identified her as male, puzzling the salesmen and prompting uncomfortable questions.

"They are like, 'This doesn't match.' Then you have to go into the story: 'I was born male, but now I'm not,'" said Grey, 38, a graphic designer living in suburban Chicago. "And they are like, 'What does that mean?' It was super embarrassing." Similarly awkward conversations ensued when she tried to rent an apartment, went to bars or was taken out of airport security lines for inspection.

Most U.S. residents don't think twice about the gender printed on their government-issued documents. But those "M'' or "F'' markers — and the legal and administrative prerequisites for switching them on passports, birth certificates and other forms of identification — are a source of anxiety and, even, discrimination for transgender individuals.

Chromosomes don't lie. Either you are an XX or an XY. Science is a bitch.

That’s a good middle ground. Not M or F—give them a B

A baboon could smell me and determine that I'm a functional male with a bad attitude.

Ain't no question here. I broke my other X chromosone into a Y because I was harsh.

Male and proud of it.

I think there are more people killed over the weekend in Chicago than there are transgendered people in the US. Why do these freaks get so much press?

Sex is a phenotype, not a genotype. Look up androgen insensitivity syndrome.

That said, even the bible addresses eunuchs (which these people are though the surgery is better now) and US law will need to address them in some way. Ancient roman law even had a section dealing with indemnities due someone having been made an eunuch unlawfully.

The mental health system used to try to help folks who had normally developed bodies before they had themselves mutilated, but that got in the way of the pervert .. er sexual revolution.

The libertarian party as a whole sees nothing wrong with all this, which is one of the reasons I oppose them.

Sadly, the news media encourages delusional thinking on this and so many subjects...but butchering your body with elective surgery isn’t changing your biological DNA.

Now, if someone wants to reprogram their DNA to actually switch genders, then that would be science...but leaving existing DNA intact while cutting up your body to give the appearance of a DNA change is akin to making a movie prop look like a light saber and calling it real.

It isn’t.

A movie prop isn’t a real, working light saber.

And a cut up human with the same DNA isn’t someone who has switched genders.

It’s little more than self-mutilation and fantasy...and should be prime material for psychiatric treatment that the news media desperately doesn’t want ailing people to have.

A person that can handle getting their wank fileted should be able to handle the complications that result from such an idiotic decision. I’m sick an tired of this kind of sub 1% getting treated like they should be some kind of royalty to which the normal rules don’t apply.

I don’t know about another planet but I’m telling you Russia is looking more and more like a land of the free and I never dreamed I’d ever say that. They have a flat tax, a growing economy, a growing faith community, men still are relevant and not afraid to be seen as strong, silly crap like this is treated like the silly crap it is and Putin as bad as he may be clearly isn’t afraid to assert the best interests of his country over the entire world if need be.

Once upon a time in America we were a beacon to the world now the beacon looks more like that seen in a red light district than the light of liberty.
