Father’s Day is a day to celebrate the old man, have a picnic, go to a ball game, and generally give Dads the thanks and recognition they deserve for doing the toughest job outside being a Mom. It’s also a day to push the gun control agenda, if some party-pooper gun grabber groups have their way.

The “No Father’s Day” campaign really wants to bum you out. The campaign has created four cards, each with a scene of someone who no longer can celebrate Father’s Day. In one, a father sits on his child’s empty bed ready to read a book. In another, a bride waits to be escorted down the aisle by her missing Dad. The cards read, “Don’t let another family miss out on the joy of celebrating Father’s Day because gun violence has taken a loved one away from them.” Of course there could as easily be a card showing the father of the bride escorting his daughter down the aisle after she fended off an attacker with a legal handgun.

My dad drank the union kook-aid forever ago, and now that he’s retired, he’s getting nuttier than ever because he’s attached himself to MSNBC 24/7. I’d like to bury the hatchet but he’s so unreasonable & almost impossible to talk to. Maybe someday.
I have a former co-worker who saved his sons life from a knife wielding home invader. Richard used his Colt 1911 to be sure the perp never broke into someone elses house. Armed dad-1, dead perp-0.

I have a female cousin who is the same.
This event happened about 20 years ago. Richard went through hell with the aftermath of the shooting. The perp had just been paroled from the AZ State pen. One of the AZ DPS officers investigating the case thanked him when it was all over.
My Dad’s father’s day got hijacked this year.
Father’s day is the 16th.
His 57th wedding anniversary is the 16th.
My niece, his grandaughter is graduating college on the 16th.
