Many big brands are intensely religious, even though consumers may not realize it. Most of the time, it comes from a devout founder passing his or her values on down the line.
Some companies put their religion right out in the open, and are proud of their identities. Chick-fil-A is infamous for closing on Sundays, and In-N-Out puts Bible verses on its packaging. Interstate Batteries' mission statement states up front that it exists "to glorify God" while selling its products.

I quit writing “career” because I got tired of being “corrected”. True story.
I attend church and am friends with 2 Chick-Fil-A franchise owners and I can say with all confidence that that will never happen.
Holy Crap Plumbing Repair.
By forcing the sun worshippers day on those who seek to obey the actual words of God himself, written in stone with his own finger, it thereby vilolates the religious freedom of those who have no interest in revering the "Sunday." It does this by forcing those merchants and their customers who wish to remain open on the other half of any weekend to close.
This causes them to lose 50% of weekend trade and commerce potential. The Blue Laws, when in effect, subject far too many to the "tyranny of the majority" in spite of the presumed seperation of church and state in the U.S.
BS. Blue laws weren’t aimed at restaurants at all. They were for retail stores. Lunch at Lubys after church has always been allowed, even in the days of blue laws
It’s a shame Clemens had to sell/close their grocery stores.
Article says:
“Throughout its success, the company has stuck to its founder’s religiously-motivated decision to be closed on Sundays.”
We got a George Foreman Grill for a wedding gift. Sat in our pantry for 5 years. One day my wife took it out and used it. We now use it 2-3 days a week. Great product and cleans up fast and easy.
As far as I’m concerned, BI is a Leftist rag. Not once have I noticed an article favorable to Conservatives.
>> I quit writing career because I got tired of being corrected. True story.
Who’s writing career? Do you mean: “I quit my writing career...”?
After enduring the forced advertisement, I was then taken to the main page where the article was not found. I searched for the article and got two hits:
18 Extremely Religious Big American Companies by Max Nisen Jun. 13, 2013, 12:16 PM
and
17 Big Companies That Are Intensely Religious by Kim Bhasin and Melanie Hicken Jan. 19, 2012, 11:29 AM
A few observations:
1. The lists are identical with the following exceptions: (18) - adds Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG- Los Angeles Galaxy) and Carl’s Jr - the (17) list adds George Foreman.
2. Of the duplicates, at least the three I bothered to check, had the exact same negative verbiage - although they had new images, so kudos!
3. I really loathe the use of the word (anti-abortion) used towards anyone that supports pro life causes. To be consistent, they need to call abortionists pro-death.
4. Why are there only 18? I would hope there are plenty more, but maybe they don’t fit the “big” profile.
5. Business Insider must be the
“Bleacher Report” of Business websites. For those unfamiliar, Bleacher Report is a collection of community written content of varying degrees of worthlessness designed purely to drive impressions.
I should talk...
Whose writing career...
I’m surprised that Covenant Transport wasn’t on that list. They post Bible passages and pro-life messages on their trucks, and they’re one of the largest trucking companies in the U.S.
Not my local one. I'm constantly complaining about them.
I can get all the links at the top of the page to show up, but clicking them does not accomplish anything.
They should've come out and called their list "17 Christian companies you should probably add to you boycott list because they do criminal things like CLOSE ON SUNDAYS!".
Closing on Sundays isn’t the cause of Chick-Fil-A’s “bad reputation”. Coming out in defense of traditional marriage is. And only among members of the lavender mafia and pink journalistas.
The word infamous to describe adhering to closing one day a week is erroneous at beast and libelous at worst.
Exactly.
“Whos writing career? Do you mean: I quit my writing career...? “
No.
I mean I quit using the word “career” because when I did, almost invariably someone would chime in and tell me I should have used “careen” instead.
