New York City would spend nearly $20 billion to get ready for rising sea levels and hotter summers under a proposal unveiled on Tuesday by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Well to be fair he has to start wasting money in this way if he really believes that global warming will leave NYC underwater in 20 years.

That would be $20 billion of other people’s money, not his.

The man is unstable.

It appears that there is no feedback or dampening mechanism to control his erratic oscillations.

Bloomberg is like Obama, stealing money from his treasury to be sent ot pals.

The action is out and out theft. Death should be his sentence for the crime

As long as it’s NY $, I don’t care. Politics is local. If, however, Bloomie expects federal $$ - he can go to hell beside Zero.

If global cooling lowers the sea level, Bloomies walls will be fully visible. Now that would be a hoot.

Somebody needs to tell this fool that NYC mayor is not a nationally elected office. He’s there to manage the city, not to try to set policy for the country. They may love him on the east coast, but he couldn’t get elected as dogcatcher her.

Nut job. I’m having coffee on my screened in porch here in Richmond. It’s 62 and sunny. Leave it alone Bloomers. Nobody’s buyin it.

The floodwalls and storm barriers are not a waste- unless there is never again a Sandy scale storm. That part is a reasonable precaution, compared to the cost of repair/rebuild should it happen again.

But anything designed to “combat” so-called climate change is a total waste.

Why doesn’t NYC just turn off the heat in the winter? It will save the city money, and cut down on global warming. Kills two birds with one stone!

Eh. They had highly documented floods last October because a minimal hurricane that could have come ashore on any deserted stretch of beach anywhere, happened to come ashore near NYC, the media capital of the world. Sandy had NOTHING to do with climate. It was a weather event and its course was absolute happenstance.

So if the publicity whore wants to build some flood walls, fine. But Bloomers, don’t pretend it has anything to do with climate.

Any community that undergoes economic damage from flooding tries to build levees, flood walls, whatever. Very, very often, the flooding never happens again. And sometimes it does and the walls help. Ho hum.

Bloomberg is a nut case for sure, and I don’t think mythical climate change has anything to do with it, but protecting the NYC subway system including lower Manhattan around the Battery and Wall Street from flooding and storms like Sandy is probably not a bad idea.

In the not-so-distant future....when it is all said and done, and this climate change hoax is revealed and proven for what it really is.....it will be interesting to see the total dollar amount that has been squandered. Interesting, but sad.

So much else could be done with this money that would benefit people and it is being squandered. It is pure folly, and Bloomberg cannot see it. Along with everything else, he is a fool for being on the wrong side of this issue.

Back when Katrina hit New Orleans, there was much criticism of the inaction of the city and state governments in not adequately preparing for the hurricane. However, Ray Nagin was a genius compared to Mr. Bloomberg and his minions. For instance, New York has a vast network of highway and railroad tunnels and subway lines. Why were the entrances to these facilities not adequately protected with sandbags? Where were the submersible pumps? Assuming global climate change is true (which I don't believe), coastal cities will be flooded more frequently by hurricanes, or in the case of the Atlantic coast north of Cape Hatteras, by nor’easters. City and state officials acted like God or Obama would somehow wave a magic wand and save them.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Heck if they promise to encircle the entire city with a wall, Berlin type, I’d chip in.
