10-15 miles southeast. Extremely small chance it could jump over the prairie and set our forest on fire.
Several co-workers have lost their homes. This thing is disorganized and creates spot fires here and there. It’s like a whack-a-mole game trying to put it out.
(Was just told they've had the first two discovered fatalities of the fire...a couple that didn't get out of a house in time)
It’s been labeled a crime scene. May be something other than being too slow as the cause.
Thanks Cedar Dave.
thats about right. Gazette has good updates.

The Waldo Canyon fire, was there any cause determined?
Nope. They simply dropped all pretenses of looking.
Cr@p.
Didn’t realize it was that close.
Got two inches of rain here last night.
Fat lot of good it does you.
Got it.
nope
The smoke is chokingly heavy in Castle Rock (according to a close friend there). I am praying they get this thing under control! Prayers for all in harms way!
Stay safe, Colorado Freepers.
“Forest Jihad”?
I posted over on your Black Forest thread as well...but I have to ask for some local “background” on the fire and area.
My daughter, son in law and grandbaby, relocated to Castle Rock, CO for his job. She texts me a few times a day, and has been noting the smoke a d haze (yesterday they added ash) and denser smoke to her comments. She is “miles away” from the fire; and she explained how her area is Palmer Pass—and they are a “wet” area and that other than smell and haze “no threat” from the fire. In pray she is correct, but I also wonder (this being their first experience w/wild fires) that they are NOT fully aware.
Any input from any local CO would be greatly appreciated! As I haven’t hear from her today:(
Ping.
She is easily 20 miles from the fire and the fire would have to jump more than 10 miles of prairie to get to her. She’s perfectly safe.
