The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
I woke up one morning and discovered that my Internet connection was not working. My service provider conducted some tests and concluded that my modem needed to be replaced, but the earliest they could do so was the next day. I panicked a little when I thought about being without the Internet connection for 24 hours! I thought, How am I going to survive without it?
Then I asked myself, Would I also panic if my connection with God was disrupted for a day? We keep our connection with God alive by spending time in His Word and in prayer. Then we are to be doers of the Word (James 1:22-24).
The writer of Psalm 119 recognized the importance of a connection to God. He asked God to teach him His statutes and give him understanding of His law (vv.33-34). Then he prayed that he would observe it with his whole heart (v.34), walk in the path of Gods commandments (v.35), and turn away his eyes from looking at worthless things (v.37). By meditating on Gods Word and then applying it, the psalmist stayed connected to God.
God has given us His Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path to lead us to Him.
Read: Psalm 119:33-40

Weather is a month ahead for us this year. Up to 80 during the day and night varies....30 to 48.
Fredd got his shots today..(for those who don’t know about Fredd, yes he is a dog!)
He wasn’t pleased. He is allergic to soy, just like Tasha was.
He has put on weight and he doesn’t know it yet but he is on a diet!!!

Making Z Zoup
A cup of this...a teaspoon of that...
A cumulonimbus cloud can be enormous:
six miles across and eleven miles high,
and twice as high as Mount Everest.
Believe it or not,
175 people are needed to assemble
the approximate 500 tons
of equipment for the Ringling Bros.
and Barnum & Bailey Circus
the "Biggest Show on Earth."
Actor Steve McQueen encouraged his karate teacher
to pursue a career in acting.
The teacher? Chuck Norris.
McQueen is quoted as telling Norris,
"If you can't do anything else, there's always acting."
TVs popular cartoon duo Rocky and Bullwinkle
represented a number of General Mills cereals
from 1959 to 1970: Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Jets, and Trix.
When we smile broadly, we use seventeen muscles.
Going to go out for a quick morning walk before it gets hot.
But I'll be back to catch up on pings.
Today and tonight are going to be very interesting.
The FR Canteen is ALWAYS
Come in, sit down.
Grab a cup of joe, or tasty tea.
Mingle a bit, chat with the troops
or family member.
There's always plenty of conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS in the FR Canteen.
