The Senate voted 82-15 on Tuesday to end debate on a motion to proceed to a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
The Senate is expected to continue work on the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act throughout June. The next vote will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday that will be on the actual motion to proceed to the bill.
The four Republican members of the Gang of Eight Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Jeff Flake (R- Ariz.) were joined by more than 20 other GOP senators in voting to advance the debate. That strong support is expected to dwindle if certain amendments aren't agreed to.
"As an elected leader in my party, its my view that we at least need to try to improve a situation that as far as I can tell very few people believe is working well either for our own citizens, or for those around the world who aspire to become Americans," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said ahead of the vote Tuesday. "Ill vote to debate it and for the opportunity to amend it, but in the days ahead there will need to be major changes to this bill if its going to become law."

Cornyn. What a Judas!
Kirk is normally a RINO, so it’s interesting he’s stepping up on this. On the other hand, amazing that supposed Tea Party champions: Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, Jerry Moran, Tom Coburn, Pat Toomey, etc. are voting with the RINOs. I know Toomey and Coburn have been off the reservation of late, but it’s still a blow to the gut.
” brazen. they are now outed. now we know exactly who we have to contact. 26 or more senators to flip before the end of the month.”
We either flip them, or goodbye America.
Inept? No. It’s intentional.
All Democrats voted for immigration treason
These Republicans voted against>>>
15 voting Republicans: John Barrasso, John Boozman, Mike Crapo, Ted Cruz, Mike Enzi, Chuck Grassley, James Inhofe, Mark Kirk, Mike Lee, Jim Risch, Pat Roberts, Tim Scott, Jeff Sessions, Richard Shelby, and David Vitter.
Yes it is. I figured Paul & Coburn would sell us out though.
Weren’t Ron Johnson and Jerry Moran founding members of the Tea Party Caucus? They’re all the same. Scoundrels and traitors. Any conservative who gives any of these clowns a dime in contributions is a fool.
What a joke he's proven to be....along with all of the other betrayers who voted yes.
Anyone with the Big Bucks
And if you check public records, you’ll find the same people back both sides.
Of course, Citizen’s United provides the Big Money with a way to anonymously bribe, regardless of the claims that “no individual will profit.” That’s LOL-worthy, the same way the wooooonderful GOP House recently voted themselves the right to insider trading again.
Oliver Willis (twitter) hates his fellow countrymen and countrywomen. He does not appear concerned about jobs for legal Americans. He must be one of the low information voters.
Toomey speaking to a Tea Party group. This guy pretended he was the conservative to top all conservatives. Ran the Club for Growth. Now in office, he's the second coming of Arlen Spectre, and actually is well to the left of John McCain. Go figure.
” Theyre all the same. Scoundrels and traitors.”
Yep, with the exception of the 15.
Every day, these officious bastards do something to alienate themselves from this country. How great it must be to live in comfortable digs far away from the overrun farms and ranches on the borders, from the increasingly numerous and violent Mexican gangs, and the war zone the cartels are bringing to our streets.
I guess they’d made their determination buying temporary favor from Mexican pressure groups is a worthy reward for having submitted the nation to its termination.
What really, deeply aggravates the sh*t out of me is... voters won’t have a ****ing clue as to why this matters to them, their families, their communities and the nation.
It was time about 6 years ago!
Will will we ever see free elections again?
Will conservatives ever have someone to represent us again?
Our country has been effectively taken over by the fascists right in front of our eyes.
:(
And by the way, liberal lurkers on this thread -I have worked with various church programs for internationals, helping them to learn English, foreign students, etc.
I dont have a problem with LEGAL immigrants who want to learn to be good American citizens, mesh into OUR culture (not change it to that which they are escaping from), and follow the law and come to this country LEGALLY, in other words, don’t commit a criminal offense - come here LEGALLY.
Did I say - come here LEGALLY????
Our own government is basically passing a law saying it is legal to break the law.
Are we living in insane world?
” Anyone with the Big Bucks

Sickening, isn’t it?
Looks like they stayed bought.
” . voters wont have a ****ing clue as to why this matters to them, their families, their communities and the nation.”
In a few years, they will know, but it will be too late.
I wanted to remain optimistic. Though now I can see was folly. Americans are going to suffer. Illegals own our congress and _resident. Signs of the times.
“Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act.”
“Comrades!
Comrades, I have glorious news for you! It is now the “*Affordable* Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act”!
Feel free to stream from your offices, factories and shops carrying banners and voicing your joy and gratitude to the Republicrats for the new, happy lives we will now lead.
And chocolate rations have been increased, as well as boner pills!”
Comrades Carney and Boner
Notice what state’s absent from the list of the sane?
” Our own government is basically passing a law saying it is legal to break the law.”
Legal for foreigners, not for Americans. If Americans break the law, they get convicted.
