BSA is over - zip, nada, no support from me - Eagle Scout. I hope many churches just say enough. The organization is virtually over with.
This makes me remember the days of pre-Vatican 2 when Catholics were actually discouraged from joining the scouts. They had their own version of it which was pretty tame. I was never allowed to be a Brownie because it was perceived as a Protestant organization! Maybe some of those who cooked up this negative idea had a premonition of the future.
The Cub Scouts came to my door collecting for a bottle drive last weekend, and for the first time ever, I told them I had no bottles or cans. I did feel bad because we have always supported Scouting, my son was in Scouts, my husband was a Weblo leader, and we’ve always bought what ever they were selling: popcorn, Christmas greens, etc. They are no longer “morally upright”. I can not support them any longer, especially when they had actually won a Supreme Court decision on the gay issue two or three years ago.
