COEUR d'ALENE - The next step is taking a breath.
A day after the Coeur d'Alene City Council adopted an anti-discrimination ordinance 5 to 1, Tony Stewart said the next move is, well, stopping and taking it easy.
"We've been getting a lot of calls and emails," said Stewart, Human Rights Task Force on Human Relations member, on Wednesday on the positive feedback he had received from the previous night's vote. "These things wind up being a great celebration."
And a lot of work.
Stewart, who brought the ordinance to the city to consider, said months of studying went into bringing it to Coeur d'Alene. It's not something that's jumped into.
Coeur d'Alene became the fifth Idaho city to adopt an ordinance that protects lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people from discrimination in areas of employment, housing and public accommodation.
But just because Coeur d'Alene did, the task force isn't ready to make a pitch to neighboring cities to do the same.
"It's a tremendous amount of work," Stewart said on bringing the ordinance forward. "You have to focus on one place at a time."

Sun Valley is a slice of Martha's Vineyard surgically implanted in former cowboy territory simply because it's a beautiful place with great skiing where the elite of the elite can isolate themselves. It caters to the wealthiest, snobbiest, most liberal people in the USA. It has never had any real relationship with the rest of Idaho. It was chosen as an elitist playground by Democrat power-player and wealthy railroad baron W. Averill Harriman.
That goes a long way towards renewing my faith in Idahoans!
That way politicians wouldn't have to carve out special treatment for thei favorite victim groups voting blocs.

Whats happening here is solving a problem that doesnt exist in order to promote the homosexual agenda. Boise did the same thing recently.
Amen! If some guy in a dress wants me to hire him, there’s no way I would ever do so.
I’m not working with a demented freak...

Eye, ball.
This is about setting up "gotcha" laws like, e.g., the "Violence Against Women Act" (VAWA) which I put into scare quotes because it's not really about that. It's about putting people in jail you want to send a Big Message to -- "enemy" social groups. In the case of VAWA, the "enemy" is traditional (un-Feminazified) men. In the case of gay-fomenting laws, the "enemy" is heterosexual people who know they're normal and that the other folks ain't, and who say so.
Call it instead a "shut the hell up or else" ordinance, and you'll be a lot closer to letting your eye catch up with the ball.
PC Police: Coming to a town near you, to put you in jail for being Unrighteous.
It's basically Alinskyism practiced against the Main Enemy along the axis of sexual orientation and the axis of ethnicity: Anyone straight is a member of a suspect class ("'phobes"), and anyone white is assumed to be a member of a suspect class (racists) until he can prove the negative.
Nice, huh?
