The Guardian's Bombshell Revelation About NSA Domestic Spying Is Only The Tip Of The Iceberg

Last night Glenn Greenwald published a bombshell report revealing that the National Security Agency (NSA) is using the so-called "business records" provision of the Patriot Act to secretly collect telephone records of millions of Americans.

Although the revelation doesn't surprise privacy advocates, the fact that Greenwald obtained a top secret court order compelling Verizon to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems is the first concrete piece of evidence exposing dragnet domestic surveillance.

But, unfortunately for U.S. citizens who don't want their government routinely spying on them, that's just the beginning.

From The Guardian:

It is not known whether Verizon is the only cell-phone provider to be targeted with such an order, although previous reporting has suggested the NSA has collected cell records from all major mobile networks.

Thanks to AT&T whistleblower Mark Klein and NSA whistleblowers William Binney and Thomas Drake, we know that the NSA has been perpetually amassing not only phone records but virtually all electronic records and communications.

If the regime is willing to use the IRS for political purposes what about the NSA? Rhetorical question, I know.

Yes, but now that Susan Rice is in charge we can be sure that any abuse will stop. /sarc

Rice will not be in charge of the National Security Administration. She will be a National Security Adviser.

I can’t imagine what she could contribute to the security of this Nation, but more than likely simply given a job with a great salary for her loyalty to the won.

“Rice will not be in charge of the National Security Administration. She will be a National Security Adviser.”

She should be appointed Ambassador to Libya and posted in Benghazi with the same security as the previous Ambassador.

I'm not surprised.

I guess really the only surprising thing is that I now have to get reliable news from Canadian or British sources.

You are technically correct, but she will sit on the National Security Council and it is hard to imagine that the NSC, as the group designated to coordinate national security policy, has no influence on the NSA. In the end she is just another Obama voice in control of everything they can get their hands on.

With the software the NSA has this information will be more telling than actual phone conversations.

Whatever they're after - they'll find.

And since they're ONLY targeting American citizens we must assume they're after conservatives to bolster the IRS's delusional case against conservative Americans.

NBC and '60 Minuets' are waiting breathlessly for the leak that will allow them to trash conservative Americans - or just give them the excuse for the trashing they're already done.

Jerks, friggin' jerks.

Ahhh nothing here... if there was, all the liberals and Democrats would be up in arms. Remember how worked up they were over wire taps of Al qaeda calls to US citizens? Am I sure that Liberals, the defenders of Civil Liberties, would be marching on the White House with Code Pink if there be any truth to this tail!!!!
