Time reports Assad already has several air defense systems from Moscow in his quiver, according to analysts who monitor arms shipments. While they agree that the S-300s are more accurate and have greater range than Assads current weapons systems, Time adds they say the Syrian leader is far from powerless without them. We have seen over the past few years Russia supplying several different air defense systems, says Pieter Wezeman, senior researcher in the arms transfer program of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri), which tracks weapons flows worldwide. They [Syrian government] have really increased their capability. The missiles are both short and long range. If the S-300s do arrive, that would top it all off.

That’s why Israeli Jets were cruising Assad’s headquarters.
And we need to stay the hell out of it.
Anyone remember any country sending troops during OUR civil war??
Wonder if they have figured out why all their other Russian supplied sophisticated air defense systems could not detect the Israeli jets that destroyed the reactor at Al Kibar in 2007 and several attacks earlier this year? Reports indicate they couldn’t see them coming and didn’t see them leave.
Israel should be taking the “Hezekiah Option”. Based on 2 Chron. 32:5-8, it consists on getting ready, as ready as one can be, and then trusting the Lord to use one’s preparations to bring about an absolute victory!
If having advanced missile systems while fighting a war against Islamic militants guarantees victory, we would have won our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in only weeks.
Bashar al-Assad needs more forces — a major surge — since even with the help of Hezbollah, his army is barely holding on to key territory. The only Shiite help available is Iranian, but Iran’s Revolutionary Guards don’t seem to be falling over themselves to get involved.
Maybe Mr. Assad should consider trading his shiny new Russian missiles to Iran for a shipment of Iranian ground troops.
You want to see plenty of Russians arms and ammo? Show up at almost any gun range in the US during the weekends!
Yep. Let the Qataris and Euros fight the Russians. We got no dog in this fight.
I can actually picture this chinless dork saying those exact words.
Thanks Eleutheria5.
I used to own a Tokarev officers’ pistol. It was made in China, though.
