Report: How GOP lost young voters
Politico ^ | June 3, 2013 | KATIE GLUECK

A new postmortem on the November elections from the nation’s leading voice for college Republicans offers a searing indictment of the GOP “brand” and the major challenges the party faces in wooing young voters, according to a copy given exclusively to POLITICO on Sunday.

The College Republican National Committee on Monday made public a detailed report — the result of extensive polling and focus groups — dissecting what went wrong for Republicans with young voters in the 2012 elections and how the party can improve its showing with that key demographic in the future.

It’s not a pretty picture. In fact, it’s a “dismal present situation,” the report says.

The 95-page study, which looked at the party’s views on social and economic issues, as well as its messaging and outreach, echoes a March report on the election debacle issued by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, which presented a devastating assessment of the party’s current state of affairs.

But in some ways the new report from inside the GOP tent is even more scathing and ominous — since it comes from the party’s next generation.

Kind of amazing how the rinos do such a great job of distracting from their own massive losses though, when we were making history in 2010 with sweeping, magnificent tea party victories, the media and GOPe managed to eventually create the impression that it was some kind of tea party loss.

In 2012 when the top of the ticket lost an election that they couldn’t lose, and lost the Senate, with Palin giving us our only Senate seat pick up and the tea party winning a huge victory with Cruz, and the top of the ticket unable to even carry their own home states, the GOPe did it again, even lying about Akin being the tea party candidate, when he wasn’t.

The GOPe ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states.

I don’t see how people believe the Republicans are dead. In 2004, people were telling the Democrats to pack it up....your done. In 2006, they came roaring back. The Republicans will be back. It is a dismal time right now though.

I’ve also heard this line of thought from libinlaws about evolution and global warming -

“all the smart/learned people believe this, so it must be true”

to repete myself from another thread...

That's the irony of “deep thinking” liberals...they can be trained to think they're “smart” when they don't have a clue...then they have to group think to maintain any sense of self-esteem...
Even when they see the truth...they cant admit it because their self-esteem is threatened...and their self esteem is more important to them then any truth...”Liberalism is a convenient excuse for personal insecurity.....hence the term....."useful Idiot"”

In the religious context, their self-righteousness is more important to them than the truth.
This is why, when you discuss an issue with a lib, you think you're discussing the issue, and they act like you're attacking their "goodpersonhood".

Great analysis. We need more of that. I wish somebody maintained a website with that demographic data and the elections cross tabs.
