Civil War’s A-Brewin’
Townhall ^ | January 14, 2013 | Matt Barber

A pretty, young, auburn-haired woman – mid-20s – drove down a lonely country road somewhere in Oklahoma. Appearing in her rearview mirror, at the back windshield, were two menacing orbs of light floating amid ashen dusk. The guttural roar of a souped-up big block shook the tiny Volkswagen Rabbit as a van-load of inbred thugs lurched left and drew alongside her. A ponytailed passenger taunted inaudibly and blew foul kisses between crude hand gestures. He pointed for her to pull over as the van repeatedly swerved dangerously close.

Inside the car a man, asleep in the reclining passenger seat, was startled awake by the commotion. He rose and darted his head about, calmly assessing the situation. This only spurred the evil-bent goons. As they ramped-up efforts to run the car off the road, the man reached in the glove box, withdrew a military-grade, semi-automatic handgun – an “assault weapon,” if you will – and, with intentionality and great theatre, leaned across his young bride, pointing the gun out the open bay and directly between dirt bag’s booze-flushed eyes.

Van vanished amid a plume of gray smoke as wheels locked, tires screeched and “assault vehicle” fishtailed – jerking to a halt with taillights aglow skyward from the ditch.

Not a shot was fired....

It's pretty good -- however, to maximize accessibility it shouldn't be framed in a left/right, or Republican/Democrat**, or Conservative/Liberal* argument -- it needs to be said in a liberty/slavery, freemen/authoritarian argument... maybe even a patriot(country)/loyalist(institution) frame.

* Conservative can mean someone who wants to keep things the same; that would entail keeping the corruption and overreach that has been institutionalized.
** This one is really quite a doosey: if the Republican party were oppositional to the Democrat, then they would not be allowing what is going on -- the level of incompetence shown on investigating Fast and Furious (and all other scandals [Benghazi, IRS, EPA, Eligibility, etc]) is enough to indicate that the Republican party is not merely incompetent, but complicit.

"How much gun is too much in such a situation?"

Murphy's rules for Combat....

15. When in doubt, empty the magazine.

It's not the size of the weapon, it's how you use what you have at the time.

They only need to make a few examples.

Use a drone to blow up a house or two for instance.

“The same thing is happening now and nobody is resisiting, nor will they.”

I may not agree with that. People are paying attention. One abuse here, there and over there. People give the benefit of the doubt to a fault, but once it’s beyond the pale and sparked, there’s no turning back.

People will have a choice to make, and more than you might think will engage.

God I hope so!

“The Feds simply do not have the numbers.”

And once they started dropping, there numbers would quickly decline exponentially.

If a thing is not just, there will be no loyalty to it when life and limb are at stake.

as a van-load of inbred thugs lurched left and drew alongside her.

Local PD looking for a barking dog to shoot?

FBI agents looking for an un-armed suspect to shoot?

DHS looking for Tea Party types on their way to an IRS protest?

I don't think the "good guys" have anywhere near the numbers to prevail in such a war. It's more realistic if society were to fall apart and the good guys step in to restore order and a Constitutional Republic.

I don't think history is our friend. The move towards socialism seems to be some sort of natural, irresistable (and horrible) change. Maybe it's better just to get out of the way(?) (Although there are fewer safe havens for freedom every day ... one of which may be the nation of Honduras).

People may not actively become involved, but they sure will be interested in defending house and home ...as indicated by record firearms sales in the past few years.

“Those they cannot control they simply bomb to total destruction.”

Really? I was in the military, and let me tell you what, any order to fire on my fellow countrymen would be met with, “no sir.”

You think some Captain flying an F-22 with his wing man, “Tex” is going to obliterate Houston because he was ordered to do so?

Not the people I served with, no way. Local LEOs live in those towns and have to get groceries and gas too, you think they’ll cross the line against their town folk at Obama’s order?

I doubt it, but If they do, it won’t be for long.

“That was my thought a week or two ago when the peaceful demonstrators at the IRS blogs were met by fully armored DHS in combat gear....they are just itching for the excuse to crack down on us once and for all.”

There has been a fictitious scenario bantered about, that when these uniformed thugs, start having similar ends, as did Nazi Occupation officers, when -they- sat at the sidewalk cafe’s, we might have some interesting things go on.

Some say, that John Wilkes Booth, proved that you only need to fire a derringer once, to get the hornets out of the nest.

I believe that armband would be a death warrant for the wearer his family. People know what happened to compliant target populations last century. If things really go south, I think you will very quickly see millions acting independently and without hesitation or mercy.

Force multipliers.

"Multipliers', huh? Try this math:

Number of armed U.S. military personnel - 1.5 million
Number of armed U.S. civilians - 100 million

Now, you figure out what sort of multiplier the federals are going to need, to overcome those odds.

Similar situ for me coming home from Ft Bragg in the 80s.I was driving a fiat spyder with the top down at night and this 18 wheeler gets on my back bumper. His headlights just blanked out the windshield making it impossible to see so I sat up higher in the seat to see over the windshield frame.I always carried an AR anywhere I went so I reached over in the passenger seat and picked it up in full view of the trucker behind me and I charged a round and aimed right behind me while keeping my eyes on the road in front of me.Needless to say he got the message and backed it way,way down.I would have used it if he didn’t take the hint.

"Multipliers', huh? Try this math:

History suggests that a unified and ruthless armed force can subjugate a hostile population with approximately 1:100 ratio of fighters to civilians. It has been done before.

If the Nomenklatura currently running this country can maintain control of the Military and the armed Federal Agency forces, they might just be able to control 150 million people.

But that is a very big **if**. And it would not be enough to be sustainable for very long

I would count on TBPB to overestimate their chances and double-down on stupid.

One doesn’t but what do you imagine the reaction would be if the government suddenly suspended ammo sales or limited it to 50 rds/mo or said no more than 500 rds on hand allowed? It wouldn’t matter how much we had, it would (I hope) provoke outrage.
