An interesting snapshot poll put out by Quinnipiac today. It shows the president's support dropped significantly from the last poll taken on May 1 by the same outfit. It also shows that the public is overwhelmingly in favor of a special prosecutor to look into the IRS scandal - including 63% of Democrats.
Politico:
President Barack Obama's approval rating took a hit amid three controversies surrounding his administration, including an investigation into the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeting conservative groups seeking nonprofit status, a new poll Thursday showed.
Obama has a 45 percent approval rating and a 49 percent disapproval rating -- compared with a 48 percent approval, 45 percent disapproval rating from May 1, according to the Quinnipiac University poll.
In particular, Obama plunged among independent voters. Only 37 percent of independents approve of him while 57 percent disapprove, Quinnipiac found. At the start of the month, 42 percent of independents approved and 48 percent disapproved. Nine percent of GOPers approve of Obama, 86 percent disapprove. Among Democrats, 87 percent approve, 8 percent disapprove.
Quinnipiac's results stand in contrast to Gallup, which has found that Obama's approval rating has gone largely unchanged since the IRS scandal and other controversies. According to its Gallup Daily Tracking poll, the president has a 50 percent approval and 43 percent disapproval.
Meanwhile, 76 percent of American voters think an independent prosecutor should investigate the IRS controversy, including 63 percent of Democrats, 88 percent of GOPers and 78 percent of independents.

American Voters 4-1 Want Special Prosecutor For IRS, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; But Fixing Economy Is More Important, Voters Say 3-1
Would someone please tell Juan Williams that, as usual, he is ill-informed? Just yesterday on Fox’s Special Report, he was throwing out the misinformation that BO’s approval had shown no effects of the scandals, and independents still supported him.
As with it do MSNBC’s ratings. Your two year party is over MSNBC.
45%
The ‘Obama-phone’ crowd know he is their man. Why should they care how he steals the loot he is sharing with them?
Heard Bill Bennett mention this poll this a.m.
If you take a mid-point between Quinnipiac and Gallup, you really don’t have much change for Obama since the scandals. There’s no other way see this at this snapshot moment.
As for the numbers on a special prosecutor, those are good numbers. But the dumbed down public that doesn’t associate Obama with bad things that HE is causing - Rush’s theorem - possibly has no clue that a special prosecutor would be trying to follow a trail that could lead to Obama.
The dumbed down might think a SP would find out WHO in the federal government has done wrong, not dreaming it was Obama. And when I say Obama, in actuality it was more likely Jarrett, Axelrod, Rahm Emmanuel doing what they knew Obama wanted them to do.
As for a possible “smoking gun” involving Obama, Benghazi is a better fit. Obama and Hillary talked at 10 pm that night. And afterwards, Hillary was all aboard for the “bad video” train. As was Obama. Collusion on that cover lie could very well be traceable to that call. Not by accessing what was said, of course, but by undeniable inference.
Juan Williams totes so much water for Zero, he might as well be the Hoover Dam. He is Fox’s token liberal idiot ... but I’m hoping that it’s just an act because I want to have faith that no one can be that stupid in real life. But alas I know better cause we have the Ombamatollah in the white hut and it took a whole lot of stupid for that to happen
“Would someone please tell Juan Williams that, as usual, he is ill-informed? Just yesterday on Foxs Special Report, he was throwing out the misinformation that BOs approval had shown no effects of the scandals, and independents still supported him.”
Every morning, ole Juan rolls up his sleeve checks on his skin color and starts his daily lie about FUBO. Juan is the quintessential “Holder’s Person.” Melanin trumps the truth 100%.
I love reading comments that follow articles on Obama. I am noticing that a majority of the comments are very anti-Obama! And these are not just Breitbart articles, these are AP, Yahoo, etc. (I’m not referring to comments on FR).
Maybe I am being naive and too optimistic, but I can’t help but wonder if the tide is beginning to turn against the Liar in Chief.
Those who bother to post comments are mostly HIGH INFORMATION VOTERS.
Not sure if they are the majority in this country. I have a feeling that most voters are LOW INFORMATION voters.
Democrats are low intelligence voters
i hate these freakin polls because htey just cosntantly remind us how far the peopel in this coutnry have sunk- Dear leader should have been in the low 30’s or even 20’s a Looooong time ago- yet regardless of how he has ATTACKED this coutnry and it’s citizens, his poll numbers still remained high>?
Wake up America!
Obama still has 87% approval rating among Democrats. They’ll still go all-out to defend him.
Those approval ratings are still way too high, IMHO
Now that Obama has been exposed as a dictator willing to unleash the IRS against those who oppose him, no wonder only 49 percent of Americans are willing to admit they disapprove of him.
It’s not that 49% percent of Americans disapprove of Obama, it’s that 49% are naive enough to open themselves up to tax audits by admitting they disapprove of him.
At least in the Soviet Union, Russian citizens knew enough not to criticize Joseph Stalin when anonymous voices asked them questions over the phone.
Opinion poll results are not valid under dictatorships.
Higher than Obama!
