Israelis Flock to Get Gas Masks "Just in Case"
Virtual Jerusalem ^ | 5/29/2013

Although no one has officially said that a war is imminent, or even on the horizon, the tension in Syria and the reports of missiles launched at northern Israel in recent days has caused a significant increase in requests for gas mask kits, reported the Israel Post Office, which distributes the kits. Until approximately two weeks ago, around 2,000 kits were distributed daily; on Sunday, 4,730 were distributed, a record number for one day.

A similar increase was seen in the number of Israelis who sought customized gas masks, to accommodate children and people with special requirements. Several weeks ago, 200 such requests were made a day; on Sunday, there were 400 such requests.

The Post Office said that so far, 4,800,000 mask kits have been distributed in total. The increase in requests could also be due to announcements recently broadcast by the Homefront Security Ministry, that gas mask distributions will soon end. Israelis can order kits directly to their homes by dialling 171, the Ministry said.

The apparent trigger for Sunday's bumper day of mask distribution was a report over the weekend that a rocket had been fired into Israel, by either Syria or Hizbullah. Lebanese media reported that the rocket had hit within Israel and that a loud explosion had been heard on both sides of the border.

IDF officials said later on Sunday that a search of the area had not yielded any evidence of rocket-fire into Israel, and as such could not confirm if such an event had in fact taken place or not.

Time to pick up the praying for the peace of Jerusalem! Of course, we know there won't be real peace in Israel until the coming of Yeshua HaMashiach.

No doubt, when more Israelis survive the gas attacks
than expected, the arabs will say it was an evil
jewish plot from the very beginning, poor arabs
couldn’t afford gas masks etc.

With just over 8 million people living in Israel, this comes up to around 80% of the population.

Everyone should have a gas mask in their survival kits. Biological attack is a real possibility in any population center. Even for heavy smoke from a fire it will enable movement out of the situation. Heck, they make for a great Halloween costume, too!

Next, the Palestinians asking Israel to provide them masks ala the Gulf War. Takes their academics awhile to wrap their mind around a concept like wind.

Those should be mandatory for anyone contemplating a cruise. Would be handy in an aircraft fire, though I suspect they’d raise eyebrows through security. Or in a hotel fire. For the price, worth having.

Let’s see...

Syria is in chaos. Russia is supplying S-300 missiles and possibly 10 Mig-29’s. McCain is chomping at the bit for a no dly zone.

The Iranian presidential election is in two weeks with the potential for widespread protests.

Also in two weeks...”Eager Lion 2013”, a military exercise in Jordan hosting 15,000 troops from 18 nations.

But hey, what’s to worry about?
