Gondring brought this article to our attention -- this issue was the spark that inspired me to get into pinging a Boy Scout list. Shaking my head; particularly at the detail in the article that Nutter offered the BSA $500,000 for that gorgeous art deco building right on the Ben Franklin Parkway. The ground it's sitting on is worth more.

Christians, beware. Churches will be next.

As now an enemy of the official organization of the BSA, I say good riddance. It can’t die too quickly for me.

Rather, look for the churches to have alternate boys organizations to replace the BSA.

The Boy Scouts is still a good organization for kids. It seems a shame that the kids are going to lose out because of the decisions made by adults. I don’t see why adults can’t just man up, accept the changes and continue with what they believe in and give the kids a chance. I really doubt every pack is going to be inundated with gay kids.

Our youth needs to know what real scouting is about and outdoor skills, skills that many will not have a chance to expeience without the scouts. Our kids should see their adult leaders leading, not throwing in the towel.

If any parent, leaves their child in the scouts and in he future to where the case may come that they were molested, the parents did not protect the child. I blame the parent (s) There would be no way that I would have my child in the Boys Scouts nor have them enter in public education. No way. I would work 2 jobs to put them in a faith based school or a school of my choice. I would not allow my children to be told what is right or wrong while they are so immature and need guidance spiritually and educationally. This new faith we see now a days, is not the committed view of following the word of God. Churches need to be more vocal about this like gay marriage versus caving in due to the outside activists arm of the culture from this corrupt/sinful media. Imo.

As I am furious with the Scouts over the stupidity of the new policy, They spent $875,000 to fight the City of Philadelphia to remain in the building. They WON IN COURT and the city was ordered to pay their legal bills. The city appealed and they came to this agreement?

I would have made them pay my legal fees and staid. They even offered the building as payment for the fees and the BAS said no? They could have taken the building and sold it for MILIIONS it is on prime real estate. They could have also stayed as their contract allows them. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

Any parent who approves the policy change, and then find themselves all upset little Johnny gets molested by his elder “buddy system” homo companion... well that parent asked for it. And the BSA cowards gave their green-light for this. The whole organization can go burn in hell.

Irony? A Boy Scout organization forced to leave their downtown Philly headquarters just as the rest of the organization seems dead set on moving in to the city of brotherly love.

Question...how does a youth entering into the adolescent stages as are Boy Scouts know they are gay? Did they already have a sexual experience or do they think they are just gay? The % of gay scouts must be so small yet all this PC hubbub over this perved sexual crapola that has zero to do with scouting. Disgusted.

The irony is that the Scouts originally built the building at their own cost, and then GAVE the building to the City of Philadelphia for its use, in return for an arrangement where they Scouts would be able to use a portion of the building on a perpetual rent-free lease back from the City. When the City tried to kick them out they broke that agreement.

So what happened was theft, pure and simple, apart from the fact the City evicted them for unconstitutional reasons.

Wikipedia:

“The Bruce Marks Scout Resource Center in Philadelphia was built in 1929. The Beaux Arts style building was designed by architect Charles Klauder.[3] At the time city fathers invited the Scouts to move their offices to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.[4] The building was built and paid for by the Scouts, and turned over to the city with the understanding that the Scouts would be allowed to remain in it rent-free “in perpetuity.”[5][6] The building is located at 22nd and Winter Streets.[3] The first copy of the R. Tait McKenzie sculpture The Ideal Scout stands outside the building.

This resulted in the Cradle of Liberty Council, Inc., Boy Scouts of America, v. City of Philadelphia also known as Cradle of Liberty Council v. City of Philadelphia, [2:08-cv-02429RB] which was a U.S. Court case involving the Cradle of Liberty Council versus the City of Philadelphia. The case was filed on May 23, 2008 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Judge Ronald L. Buckwalter presided over the case. The Boy Scouts were represented by Drinker Biddle.[7] The case ended with the court ruling in favor of the Boy Scouts of America that the City of Philadelphia illegally attempted to abrogate the Council’s federally protected civil rights.[8][9] Under federal Civil Rights Law, the Cradle of Liberty Council is also entitled to collect its legal costs (estimated at one million dollars) from the city’s unlawful action. While the Boy Scouts offered to then settle the dispute by having the City pay half of the legal fees in return for title to the building and the city accepted, the city council reneged. [10] On March 2, 2012, the Federal judge formally ordered the city pay all of the Boy Scouts legal fees and denied the motion for an appeal. The Boy Scouts may also continue reside in the building rent free as they have done since they had paid for construction of the building in 1929.”

As I recall, the land belongs to the city - part of Fairmount Park - but leased in perpetuity to the BSA for $1.00 per year. That they folded means the BSA will be dead inside of a very few years, sad to say.

Philly Ping.

Have the Gay Scouts considered how this will affect membership ?

I cannot believe this has not even been talked about.

I expect it will be down, and by HUGE amounts.

But expect government funding then. I bet those BROWN SHIRTs look awful cute to Obammunists.

Don’t the Scouts own the building but not the land, or something like that? Don’t hand over the keys.

...in return for $825,000 under an agreement that settles a long legal battle over the organization's ban on gays

So they surrendered on the issue AND they surrendered their headquarters. It doesn't pay to cowtow to the Gaystapo ribbon bullies.

Be sure to click the FreeRepublic homosexual agenda keyword search link for a list of all related articles. We don't ping you to all related articles so be sure to click the previous link to see the latest articles.

Add keywords homosexual agenda to flag FR articles to this ping list.

Another sad story about the Boy Scouts. I neglected to ping out a couple of articles that described exactly how the vote went down (dishonestly of course) and I'll try to find them to ping out.

Anyone wanting on/off either ping list, freepmail me.
