Horace Mann School, the elite Horace Mann prep school in the Bronx, has apologized for sexual abuse committed by its teachers and administrators between the years 1962 and 1996. But the school, which has said it will create an advisory panel on student safety, appoint one of the victims to the Head of School Committee that advises the board of trustees, and release the school's report of the sexual abuse committed by its employees, has refused to do one thing that the victims have asked for: support an independent investigation into the abuses.
Joseph Cumming, a former victim, said, “The school is effectively saying no to our primary request.”
The school issued a statement on its website saying, "We sincerely apologize for the harm that was caused by the teachers and administrators who abused anyone during their years at Horace Mann School. These unconscionable betrayals of trust never should have happened.”
It also stated that "former teachers and administrators in fact did abuse, in various degrees, students." The school claims that most of the perpetrators are either dead or “mentally infirm,” and the rest have refused to cooperate with the school which insists it is impotent to force them.
One of the victims, Jon Sieger, now 51, said he was first raped by headmaster Inky Clark when he was 14, and forced to perform oral sex on Clark. He added eight members of the faculty made him a “sex object and personal plaything."
One victim who claims he was molested roughly 450 times in the 1970s has sued the school. Other victims have urged New York state legislators to approve legislation allowing victims to sue schools even though the statute of limitations has expired. New York law only allows victimized students to file suits until they turn 23.

I would be greatly tempted to go hunting for former teachers, if I had been molested.
It’s always puzzling to me that these things go on so long and it never comes out. Did none of the kids tell their parents? Why did the parents not call the police?

Why didn't an instructor who wasn't a homosexual speak out? Or did they only employ homosexuals? And why didn't some student after he was grown, get a gun and go back and settle scores? Oh, that was New York City, but couldn't they have guns that many years ago? How did they manage those many years without a grown student doing something, saying something?

Oh, but they can go after the Catholic Church with a vengeance. It’s not a story because the perpetrators were not priests. Tuition there is close to $40K a year. Liberals and their hypocrisy.
The schools will be much worse than the Church's scandal. Although the Church bishops made mistakes trying to hide it in order not to hurt the image of the Church, the behavior was and still is completely against Church teaching in general, and for the behavior of priests specifically. Thus, the Church can right itself by becoming more Catholic.
The school system does not have this advantage, and in fact it is the opposite. They have been captured by "progressives" who wish to reorder society. This behavior is not against progressivism, it is just ahead of its time. The only thing a politically correct school can do is to hide the crimes while advocating to normalize the behavior.

You’d be surprised at just how many people turn a blind eye to this kind of abuse. I was once told that a secret is something everyone knows and no one speaks of. It happens far more often than people suspect. It’s like a war against the innocence of children and the strength of the human spirit. Individuals who suffer this type of abuse never really lead normal lives. You can never go back to not knowing just how evil people can be.

And people think that God is cruel for commanding that homosexuals be put to death. There is a punishment worse than death - homosexual rape.
I went to school in NYC (elementary through college) and I remember that the only reaction to a teacher in my high school who was always challenging the boys to “wrestle” in the hallway so that he could run his hands into places they shouldn’t have been - he’d then ask them if they wanted to “wrestle” privately so he could teach them a few things about “wrestling” - was that the kids talked about him and avoided him. Everybody knew there was no point in telling the administration because we were just kids and he was a teacher and, in addition, one who was for some reason beloved of the administration.
I would assume some of the boys went off to the private wrestling sessions...
