I am guessing what he really did was mix gas with powdered laundry soap.

I’d think recipes could be had on the web if one looked. Or he might have tried something like mixing gas and stiff grease.

If you mix gasoline with Styrofoam you get a good approximation of napalm.

It is pretty easy to make

gasoline can be jellied with a strong lye base soap is you are crazy enough to cook it
