Dem: Republicans throwing infrastructure 'under the bus’

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week.

The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically.

“Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and the society under the bus,” McDermott said in an interview with MSNBC host Al Sharpton.

The big secret is it all went to teachers and other government unions to keep them working and paying dues. They spent some and funneled the rest back to the election.

We’re four and a half years into Obama’s term. What infrastructure has he replaced with his one to two trillion dollar deficits?

Notice there’s no talk about the homeless.

Notice there’s no real talk about 40 million U. S. Citizens being out of work?

Notice there’s no real talk about another 40 million or so being under-employed?

God these fools carry a heck of a lot of water for this Kenyan turd.

Oh please. The bridge is over 50 years old. How many over 50 year old bridges are there in the US. Probably a lot. And this all just crumbled in the past 6 months because of the GOP. Or the past 4+ years because of the GOP prevent O from building new bridges all over the USA. Pelosi must be delusional but the low information voters will probably believe them and the GOP will roll over and not argue back with them.

How many years before this bridge collapsed were we told that the trillion dollar stimulus package would fund “shovel ready” jobs that would rebuild our crumbling infrastructure?

Hey, now, let's simply look for the money under the Congresscritter: Over the past five years, the American people have paid nearly $120,000 for his health care (Congressional health benefit), and lined up for nearly 9 million dollars for his retirement (Congressional retirement), paid nearly 18 million for his Congressional staff, another 6 million for his district staff, nearly 4 million for his transportation, about six million for his security.... And half a million for his salary.

This excludes billions spent to create a public entrance to the Capitol Building so that congresscritters don't have to be soiled by seeing Americans, billions spent on screening checkpoints, and billions spent running background checks on Americans who tweet that they might like to take a family trip to Washington DC.

Have I found the money yet to repair this bridge, and probably every other bridge in Washington state?

Republicans aren't blocking anything, Democrats are simply wasting the money on themselves, then whining that the people aren't giving them more to waste, as they might, if they get enough, actually spend the money on a state project.

But, umm, let's not talk about the actual party who is responsible for maintaining and upgrading this bridge - the state of Washington. Or how the billions that were supposed to be spent on roads were instead spent on urban bike paths, or how much of the road budget that actually was spent on roads was sunk into an unstable tunnel...

Let’s cut the crap.

FACT: A guy drove a 15 foot high load over a 14 foot high clearance bridge. His pilot car was two weigh stations back with another oversized load that had broken down.

The collapse had NOTHING to do with sequester nor the GOP’s lack of support for infrastructure. What’s more, WA state government has been hard BLUE for 25 years (thank you Seattle) so there are no G D excuses !

A voting population that bought into Obama’s phony charges of a republican “War On Women” is dumb enough to buy into anything democrats say.

Actual facts, dependencies and time-lines are not even considered.

Obama says it, the leftist ‘Obama Media” spreads it, and it becomes the perceived truth among the Free S**t Army’.

The stimulus funds were to improve infrastructure.
And now nobody knows where it went and the bridges are falling down.
New roads, shovel ready projects, REMEMBER?
Where did all of those billions go, Owebama?

Accounting is not one of Jim McDermott’s strong skills. Countless times there have been appropriations made for “infrastructure” maintenance and improvements, but somehow the actual funds appropriated just never get the work done, at least not the designated work.

But spent these funds do get. Mostly to pay local graft and for political purposes, but very little of this gets out into the structural maintenance of these very structures for which it was intended. Shoddy inspections, makeshift repairs when any are done at all, and poor (or no) oversight of the job when it is supposed to have been completed.

And this is the fault of the Republicans - how?

Hey McDermott, wasn’t there almost a trillion dollars for “infrastructure” in the stimulus of 2008?

Yeah; we need JOBS for our Union cronies, so the Taxpayers can be fleeced for 3 times the cost if it were competitively bid, too!

They have been wasting all of their money on trains and tunnels rather than keeping up our roadways.

The only thing standing between America and prosperity is the Democrat infrastructure.

Pray for America to Wake Up

ARRA funds ended up rebuilding highways that didn’t need rebuilding. (One example is I-84 through the Poconos.)

Not to mention all the taxes/tolls that are supposed to help replenish the infrastructure - who spent all of it on other things?
