I communicated to the leadership of the BSA that, if they voted affirmatively to support gay's in the BSA, that I'd:
- pull my son from participating in the BSA
- stop participating in the leadership of the BSA
- explain to all others from my den that the organization is no longer safe (we take many fatherless boys on trips to sleep in tents)
The CEO of Earnst and Young championed this from the beginning of his appointment. E&Y used their kick-back money to push this issue over the hump. Those who have worked for any of the "Big 8" (Big 6, Big 4, etc.) know what I'm talking about...
I worked for a Big-6 accounting firm and I know how they capture regulators.
I haven’t heard of any Scouts exiting the organization yet. The information about that probably won’t be released if many do indeed exit, which I am doubtful about. In many ways, the Scouts is just a money organization, constantly wanting donations, fees, extra charges, etc. I am pretty sure the American people will keep on paying and say very little about this. I imagine churches will keep sponsoring them too. I don’t think the American people at all oppose this change.
Very very sad. Yet another symptom of a broken world.
