The same rotten bastards in congress that grilled Apple are the exact same people who are completely against a FLAT TAX...

But aren’t they unintentionally making the case FOR a FLAT TAX by grilling Apple...

They have gotten so crazy they don’t see they constantly contradict themselves...

Maybe if the tax codes weren’t written by the lobbyists that put the congress critters in power that are now grilling apple we wouldn’t have this issue would we...

This is deeper than tax codes, IMO.

I live in Nevada.

There is lots of mining here in Nevada-—

Why does that apply to this story?

Because mining has to happen WHERE the ore is. It cannot be moved elsewhere by magic. The currect Legislature is considering changing the state constitution regarding mining taxes. Not just a LAW-—the CONSTITUTION!! I see the mining companies shutting down their operations, or at the least severely curtailing operations until they get such thoughts reversed. The gold & other minerals are not going to go anywhere—the mining companies just have to carve back & let the state learn that they cannot be forced to produce a damn thing.

OTOH, Apple can do their work in any country they please. They could move EVERYTHING that is here in America to-—perhaps Ireland—where tax laws actually display a liking for jobs and commerce.

When you write complicated tax laws which cause a company to hire the very best accountants and tax lawyers a company can afford to hire to prepare their tax returns, then you deserve to have a decent attitude from the government.

The people in Congress are very predominantly lawyers-—not accountants. The don’t understand what they are voting on and passing thru as tax law. The laws are often conflicting, leaving a company to try their best to interpret the language, which is Byzantine at best.

Making a spectacle in Congress, where we have many, many more important issues, of a company which is a major employer & producer in the USA is another display of the disdain Obama holds for any successful operation.

I see the day where Apple and others suddenly find Canada a viable option to doing business inside the borders of the USA. Canada—Ireland—Hong Kong and many other places are going to be more and more attractive as Obama continues his scorched earth policy against successful American business.

Let’s see how all those highly paid Liberals in the Silicon Valley businesses like seeing their jobs go elsewhere and they have to follow the job or be unemployed.
