Obama to Restart Transfers From Guantanamo By JULIAN E. BARNES, EVAN PEREZ and ADAM ENTOUS
WASHINGTONThe Obama administration is set to restart transfers of detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, U.S. officials said, kick-starting a long-stalled drive to close the prison.
In a speech Thursday, President Barack Obama will reassert his case that closing Guantanamo is crucial to U.S. counterterrorism goals. While he isn't planning to detail in the speech how to speed up transfers from the prison, officials said the president in coming weeks plans to lift the administration's prohibition on sending detainees to Yemen.
The president in the speech also is set to lay down the broader outlines of his administration's approach to efforts to fight al Qaeda and its affiliates, including through the use of unmanned aircraft strikes.
Ahead of the president's speech, the administration told Congress in a letter Wednesday that four Americans have been killed in drone strikes, the first official acknowledgment of the deaths by the government. Attorney General Eric Holder wrote that only Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical Muslim cleric, was specifically targeted. Mr. Awlaki was killed in a drone strike in September 2011.

Nothing good ever comes from Pakistan or Yemen.
Presumably this time they will be let go to fight "for" us in Syria, and will end up killing a bunch of Americans at some future date, as good little al Qaeda terrorists are now so accustomed to do.
I’ve really got nothing against the people of most nations. The problem is, we have a large terrorist element within a number of nations across that region. Why are we allowing free travel back and forth?
We should have zones where nobody but nobody gets through.
Why do we have to endure the terrorism these people’s fellow citizens perpetrate on us?
During the cold war we restricted travel. Today we could do it too. Why not?
This is just nuts. Our leaders are careless and incompetent.
That sounds like a good plan to me.
Thanks EEGator.
Anytime.
will not happen. just wants yet another controversy to come into play to distract the masses from benghazi, irs, the alabama birth certificate trial, AP, fox, fast and furious. what is just one more distraction?
Bronco Bama's not gonna off his co-religionists.
Yemen, what the...
What the hell is the point of even capturing them then ><
True. It would be a real shame if a massive fire broke out at Gitmo’s Camp Delta...
Wonder if Dear Leader is going to publicly admit he wants to arm AQ affiliates? Prolly not
"A 13-page letter delivered to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel cites worsening conditions and leadership failures comparable to those that led to the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday."

It's just, humane, and we'll save money too!! Who could argue against that 'cept the Scandal Fishin' Team? /s
An attempt to rally ‘the base’.
Divert, divert, divert.
Anything to get people to stop thinking about his treasonous (literally) actions regarding Benghazi.
So now that congress has approved 200 million to upgrade the prison, Obama is going to move everyone out of it.
Make it easy, just close the prison, let the prisoners run free in Cuba and give the Cubans the 200 mil to keep them.
To Chicago. It would improve the gene pool.
Confidential to jihad types: we're lo-jacking their arse, tied to the targeting system of a drone. The device is implanted right beside their heart. Or is it in their liver? Maybe both. Welcome your comrades with open arms, preferably not around children, though. Enjoy.
Right.. Let’s transfer them to Yemen, where prison breaks seem to magically happen on a regular basis... Like when the guards are “overpowered” and hundreds escape at a time. We’ll eventually find them on our streets.
At least in Yemen, he could get them with a drone.
