Swedish Youth Riots Enter Third Day

Sparked by the police shooting of a machete-wielding 69 year-old man, traditionally calm-and-collected Sweden is suffering amid its third night of riots. It seems underlying tensions from high youth unemployment and rising nationalism against the nation's large immigrant population have been catalyzed by this seemingly unrelated event. As the Daily Mail notes, immigrant ghettos have been created where unemployment is high and there are few opportunities for residents with left-leaning commenters adding that the riots represented a 'gigantic failure' of government policies, which had underpinned the rise of ghettos in the suburbs - "We have failed to give many of the people in the suburbs a hope for the future." An anti-immigrant party, the Sweden Democrats, has risen to third in polls ahead of a general election due next year, reflecting unease about immigrants among many voters. What is driving this tension? After decades of practicing the 'Swedish model' of generous welfare benefits, the country has been reducing the role of the state since the 1990s, spurring the fastest growth in inequality of any advanced OECD economy. Given Sweden's 24.7% youth unemployment, we wonder just what will happen to the 60% of unemployed youths in Greece and Spain when school lets out this summer?

Unless Spain and Greece have a muslim population issue, I’d say Sweden has the bigger problem. Either way, birth control or sterilization is needed to prevent social collapse.

Why aren't they doing the jobs Swedes won't do?

I will rush to judgement here, but I imagine the rioters are not "Swedes" but folks from other, less civilized climes, who just happen to be living in "calm-and-collected Sweden." That fact that MSM coverage is using the same old tired cliches about "inequality" confirms it for me.

I leave for Sweden on June 15th for the summer. Looks like it will be interesting. Actually, I am staying in the city center, I won't even, probably, see more than one or two of the Amish.
The Left just loves to search for too causes to excuse the criminal behavior of groups they support.
They got the root cause right on this one though because unemployment is the root cause.
However, this is the Socialist Mecca of Sweden we are talking about.
Sweden where no one has to work and the government pays them not to work.
Sweden is also the land of make work where one defines a job that appeals to them and the Government pays them to do their make work job
Artist is a favorite make work job description . Sweden has huge warehouses filled with the work product (notice I did not call it art) of these self professed artist government funded artists.
Notice there is little difference between being paid to be unemployed and being paid to perform a make work job where you get to write the daily job description to what interests you on that given day.
Almost all of these Muslims are not working on conventional jobs , just like the artists.
But also like the artists, they have government funded jobs working on make work jobs on a project that interests them greatly.
That project is Jihad and the job description for pursuing Jihad includes rioting periodically
But how can this be in a utopia like Sweden?
It was a mistake to let them in, there are no easy solutions.
