Apparently we can make a difference. Here's something that worked.

Well, let's see . . . they could go back to basics: English: parts of speech, diagramming sentences, spelling lists; Math: all the math tables; History: undistorted history of this great country; Penmanship: cursive
Or would that be too tough for these ignoramus teachers?

The article is completely biased. Not one example of why the curriculum was scrapped, just complaints about it being dropped from one person.

More like complaints from parents. It was a horrible lesson plan in the first place. Our AG, Greg Abbott was on the side of the ones wanting it gone.
Can only be a good thing for everyone. I’m sure the schools will cope with replacement lessons. Unless the “new” teachers don’t have the common sense to think for themselves.

Man oh man. Where ever there are liberals, you have a perversion of history.
This is Texas! We don't put up with this progressive rewrite of history.

Glenn Beck was all over this. Am glad he was able to put the pressure on the politicians.
I don’t buy the excuse that school districts can’t come up with the money to develop their own curriculum. Are you telling me that teachers can’t teach without buying some online curriculum?
They complain about having to teach to the test, but it’s ok (i.e. easier ) to parrot some online anti-American curriculum?

Apparently, though, it's not totally eradicated from the classroom, yet:
Teachers Instructed to Save CSCOPE Lessons

It used to be that cities and towns determined what was taught in school systems, with the state having some basic requirements like English and Physical Education, the length of the day and year. Then the states and the feds got involved with all kinds of "improve education" schemes that everyone embraced because they brought state and federal funds. But alas, money is control, and you've got a mess that nobody can stand.
Solution....the feds stop giving money to education, including student loans. They stop writing regualations. No more head start programs, no more subsidized breakfast and lunch, no more technology purchases, just put it back to the communities.
All this other stuff is just infighting about who gets the money. JMHO

From the article:
"...lawmakers said they got complaints from parents about CSCOPE, including a lesson on the Boston Tea Party that invited students to include the perspective of Britons who might have considered it an 'act of terrorism,' and other allegations that CSCOPE promotes Islam over Christianity."

No bias here. The curriculum is “popular” with everything but evil fundie thugs, according to the article.
